Shay Park Railroad - Hosted by Utah Live Steamers Railroad Club Shay Park Railroad is a 7.5" gauge railroad at Shay Park in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Min rider height 32". Shay Park Railroad is a 7.5" gauge/1.6" scale railroad.

The miniature railroad is run by the Utah Live Steamers, an all-volunteer 501.c.3 club, and is supported entirely by riders and corporate donations. The railroad is maintained and operated by the Utah Live Steamers club, a 501c non-profit group. Train rides are offered on some days, typically the 1st and 3rd Saturdays mornings during the summer months. We ask for a $2.00 per person donation. Pleas

The park features an abandoned railroad grade of the Salt Lake and Western railroad, pavilion, soccer fields, train-themed playground, and ride-on railroad for kids and adults. The Utah Live Steamers club owns and maintains the railroad and trains and no City funds are used for the railroad.

Wanted to give a shout out to our club members that held a very productive Saturday morning work session yesterday! They started at 8:00am and finished at 3:00pm and completed the following projects...

1 - Brighton siding crossing asphalt completed.
2 - Yellow safety line repainted.
3 - Crossing white lines repainted and new line at North west crossing painted.
4 - New white lines added at Brighton for passenger loading/ticket line.
5 - Timp loop/cross overs/yard leveled and ballast tamped.

Thank you friends for all your hard work and for volunteering a full Saturday improving the park for our patrons! Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed! We can’t wait to share these improvements with you at our next run date on June 20th, from 6-9pm!

Be sure to gas up before you go and pack a sack lunch! It’s in the middle of nowhere!

All Aboard for an Exciting Season at Golden Spike!

May 1st officially kicks off the locomotive run season and the summer schedule (see below).

The replica steam locomotives Jupiter and No. 119 are back in all their Victorian glory!

After a winter of extensive preparations and maintenance, they'll steam into the former Promontory Station and complete the historic setting by parking nose to nose at the Last Spike Site, where the country was united by rail.

Summer Schedule:
Golden Spike National Historical Park Visitor Center is open 7 days a week, 9 AM – 5 PM.

Daily Locomotive Schedule**
10:00 AM – Jupiter arrives
10:30 AM – No. 119 arrives
1:00 PM – Daily Locomotive Demonstration
4:00 PM – No. 119 departs
4:30 PM – Jupiter departs

All outdoor historic features and associated amenities are open seven day a week, from sunup to sundown. This includes the Big Fill Trail, Historic Last Spike Site, East Auto Tour, and Visitor Center restrooms and picnic areas.

Don’t forget to visit Big Boy this weekend in Ogden! It’s quite a sight to behold!

Look at this beauty, and she’s headed our way!! Union Pacific Railroad’s Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive, will return to Ogden Union Station for public display on April 18–19, 2026. The 1.2-million-pound locomotive is visiting as part of the "America 250" tour, offering visitors an up-close look, with free admission to local museums.

Details for the Big Boy Visit:

Experience: Aside from seeing Big Boy up close, the event also includes the "Experience the Union Pacific" rail car, a walkthrough exhibit, and souvenir shopping.

Context: The Big Boys were built to haul heavy freight specifically between Ogden, Utah, and Cheyenne, Wyoming, in the 1940s.

Utah Live Steamers Annual Meeting – Feb 7, 2026

We’re holding our annual Board & Club Meeting on Saturday, Feb 7, 2026 at the American Fork Public Library. Donuts and drinks provided.

Schedule:
• Board Meeting: 10:30–11:30 AM

• Club Meeting: 11:30 AM–12:30 PM (open to all)

These are public meetings—members, families, and anyone interested in joining are invited. No equipment required to become a member. (Some age/ability requirements apply.)

We will review our 2026 schedule, special events, and plans for operations at Shay Park in Saratoga Springs.

All are welcome—come learn, ask questions, and get involved!
