Our first "shared ground" selection - The Orchard of Lost Souls - asks us to read with attention for the lives held within it.
These questions are offered simply as a way to begin. To think. To wonder. To feel.
We hope you'll sit with them, reflect, and share with us.

What we place into the world matters.
What we offer one another matters.

When women and girls give kindness, they help create the trust, courage, and connection that every community needs to grow.

Give kindness. 💛🧡💚

Introducing Shared Ground: a global reading circle

Over the coming year, we'll read one book from one country each month, not to explain the world, but to sit with the lives lived within it. Shared Ground is a slow, intentional book club rooted in curiosity, care, and shared humanity.

We begin in Somalia with The Orchard of Lost Souls by Nadifa Mohamed -- a novel that invites us to read with, not about, women whose lives are shaped by memory, courage, and care on the eve of civil war.

Discussion prompts will live on our website and may be shared in Stories along the way.

Dr. King Jr. asked us to see the dignity in every person and to refuse to let any person be forgotten. Our letters of care will be sent to detention centers across the country, but today we're starting with one simple, meaningful act: think.
Make a note of what you're feeling. Follow us for next steps, coming soon.

Many of us have concerns about this election. We're angry, frustrated, outraged, disappointed, and exhausted. AND we have to vote. We have to stay engaged. We have to talk and listen. Let's come together for a Debate Watch Party this Thursday. Sign up at events.democrats.org/event/636829 to join the thinkpeace community as we listen and learn about what's at stake.

Peninsula/Bay Area friends! In a wild small world moment, I was just on a training call with the DNC, and in the chat room we all posted where we were from. A name looked really familiar to me, and then he said he was from San Mateo. I knew it! Wayyyy back at the beginning of thinkpeace workshop for girls, Liz Overheul Curry and I held a mother/daughter mini workshop at a fabulous venue called Reach and Teach. Craig, who was on my call, owns it, although it has moved to San Carlos. LOVE this business so much-- check it out sometime. And if you're as concerned about this election as he and I are, consider this event he's hosting next Wednesday, June 26th from 7-8:30pm at the store at 1179 San Carlos Ave, downtown San Carlos:
Want to get more involved in the 2024 election locally, statewide, and nationally? Get inspired, find ways to get involved, share your ideas and concerns, and meet people who have been at this work for decades and others who are just getting started.
Organizations represented include Swing Left, Vote Forward, Bake Back Better, Democratic Volunteer Center, Sister District Peninsula/South Bay, League of Women Voters, Redwood City Huddle, and more.
Snacks and beverages will be provided. An optional $10 per person will be used to help one organization or candidate voted on by attendees.
I would SO love to be there-- hope some of you will go! And please, if you're looking for ways to get involved in this incredibly important election, reach out. thinkpeace has lots of resources for you! Because democracy matters, and it's going to take us ALL doing our part.
