Hearing Loss Legal Fund

Hearing Loss Legal Fund Edit suggestions... Many individuals with a hearing loss are economically disadvantaged and cannot afford legal counsel when the need arises.

Hearing Loss Legal Fund (HLLF) seeks to provide civil rights education for individuals with a hearing loss and train allies of the Deaf and hard of hearing community on civil rights issues as well as assist in civil rights cases. The problem is further compounded by the fact that they face communication barriers when trying to find an attorney who is either willing to provide an ASL interpreter or

can communicate in ASL sufficiently enough to explain the legal complexities of their case. Additionally, most attorneys do not have sufficient knowledge of how Deaf Culture, Sign Language, and hearing loss can play a role in client’s case.
