This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, SSLA stands shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone affected by breast cancer.
As lifeguards, we know what it means to face rough water, stay calm under pressure, and never give up when someone needs help. The fight against breast cancer is no different.
We rescue. We protect. We fight. We don’t back down. 🛟
To every survivor who has fought their way through the storm — we salute you.
To those still in the fight — keep pushing. Keep fighting. You’re not alone.
To the families, friends, and loved ones standing beside them — we stand with you.
And to those we’ve lost — your fight, your strength, and your memory will never be forgotten.

After two years in the making, the Lifeguard Wall is finally up at Daiquiri Deck in the South Village on Siesta Key! 🌊🛟
A huge shoutout to owner Troy and his GM, Ryan, for helping turn this dream into a reality. Their support and dedication to honoring Sarasota County’s lifeguards means so much to all of us.
Scooter and I were honored to donate much of the lifeguard memorabilia featured on the wall and help spearhead this project. Our goal was to create something that recognizes the men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting our beaches and reminds our community just how important lifeguards are to Sarasota.
This wall represents the past, present, and future of Sarasota County Beach Patrol and the countless lifeguards who have served our 36 miles of coastline over the years.
To every lifeguard who has worn the uniform: thank you for your dedication, your service, and your commitment to keeping our community safe.
And to Troy and Ryan — thank you for helping us make sure that legacy is never forgotten. ❤️🛟🌊

🚨 ATTENTION ALL PAST & PRESENT LIFEGUARDS! 🚨
We are excited to announce the unveiling of the Sarasota County Beach Patrol Memorabilia Wall on October 1st at 7:00 PM at the Daiquiri Deck in the South Village on Siesta Key!
We hope to see as many past and present lifeguards as possible as we come together to celebrate and honor 70 years of Sarasota County Beach Patrol history. The wall will showcase photographs, memorabilia, and memories from generations of lifeguards who have dedicated their lives to serving our beaches and protecting the public along 36 miles of coastline. 🌊🛟
A special THANK YOU to Daiquiri Deck for spearheading this project and helping make this incredible tribute a reality. This is more than a wall — it’s a celebration of the men and women who have proudly worn the red and served our community for generations.

An Extreme Heat Warning for Sarasota is in effect, with very warm air temperatures expected across much of Sarasota County.

If the beach is part of your plan to cool off, make sure to arrive prepared with plenty of water, sunscreen, and a source of shade. Stay hydrated throughout the day, limit prolonged exposure to the sun, and keep an eye on friends and family for signs of heat-related illness.

And while the Gulf may offer some relief from the heat, always check conditions and talk to SCFD Lifeguard before entering the water, as many hazards may be present.

Enjoy the beach and stay safe.

Congratulations to Lifeguard of the Month Jillian Quinn!!

Hi everyone! My name is Jillian, and I’m from Venice, Florida. I’m currently a senior at Oregon State University studying Nutrition Science with a focus in Dietetics and a minor in Psychology.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, kayaking, watching sunsets at the beach, and trying out new coffee shops. I come from a family of first responders, and both of my siblings were Sarasota County Beach Lifeguards. We all participated in the Junior Lifeguard program before continuing on to become seasonal guards when we got older.

In my three summers guarding, I love working alongside such an incredible team and being able to serve Sarasota County.

Congratulations to our Sarasota lifeguards and fire department firefighters for successfully completing a High Surf Training Course through the United States Surf Lifesaving Association! 🧊🌊
These dedicated men and women completed 40 hours of intensive training in challenging surf conditions, including how to safely flip and recover hobies , properly tow boats, and professionally operate jet skis in demanding rescue situations.
Their commitment to training, safety, and teamwork helps ensure they are prepared to respond when it matters most.
Congratulations to everyone who completed this session! Your dedication and professionalism are something to be proud of. 👏🚒🌊
