Hey families. We were contacted by some team members at San Diego State University's psychology department and they are looking for adults (ages 18-35) to help out with a research study they are conducting on sleep and how it might be related to brain function and behavior. Eligible participants can have a history of prenatal alcohol exposure as well as typically developing adults of the same age group.

Some of our team members from The Florida Center for Early Childhood adventured to Tallahassee earlier this week to advocate for the needs of our FASD community. Our agency continues to work in partnership with the State of Florida's Department of Health to support families and individuals impacted by prenatal alcohol exposure. We have big dreams and are hopeful to have opportunities to continue expanding our services.

We are especially thankful for our FASD Champions - Senator Jim Boyd and Representative Webster Barnaby. We know that we have future champions in State Representatives Christine Hunschofsky, Bill Conerly, Griff Griffits, James Buchanan, Anna Eskamani, Alex Andrade, and Fiona McFarland as well as Senators Jennifer Bradley, Josie Tomkow, and Jay Trumbull, as well as potential federal support from Evan Power.

We are working to make 2026 the best year ever in Florida for families and professionals impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). The journey is going to be one of progress and hope. One way that you can help us is to fill out our new survey to help us get organized. We want to let you know when an event is happening near you or we have a training that would be perfect for your profession or peers.

YES! Such an incredible victory for our FASD community. Now - Let's get Florida prepared to move forward with the next steps in implementing the FASD Respect Act.

🚨 HUGE NEWS: The SUPPORT Act has been signed into law by the President, officially authorizing the FASD Respect Act. This is the culmination of countless hours of work by the FASD community, and we are grateful for the work of our sponsors, Senators Murkowski and Klobuchar and House Champions Representatives McCollum and Bacon over the years. Now, we turn our focus to ensuring FASD Respect Act programs are fully funded and able to make it into your communities.

The FASD Respect Act goes beyond just securing funding for FASD programs. Now that the FASD Respect Act has become law, the federal government is tasked to address FASD through a realigned perspective that supports individuals and families and respects their lived experience. Official passage also allows this community to fight for greater funding for the programs and services that will make a real difference in your lives.

This significant step forward was made possible by the generous donation of time, energy, and charitable giving from the entire FASD community. Self-advocates, parents and caregivers, and professionals across the country donated their time by writing to and meeting with Members of Congress, ensuring they are FASD-informed. Longtime champions like Susan Shepard Carlson spent countless hours drafting legislation and sharing their expertise with advocates. National coordination from FASD United has helped this grassroots movement be sustainable and effective, and this work is fully funded by generous donations from people like you.

We hope you will consider giving to FASD United to allow us to continue this work as we fight for increased funding for FASD Respect Act programs. Support us here: https://fasdunited.org/season-of-giving/

Image Description: The image shows a group of adults standing together in front of the U.S. Capitol on a bright, clear day. They are all wearing matching black shirts with FASD awareness messages and red shoes. The text on the image announces that the SUPPORT Act has been signed into law, authorizing the FASD Respect Act. A small logo for FASD United appears in the upper right corner, and a link to donate is displayed at the top.
