Kids who aren’t prepared when they start school are more likely to experience setbacks that affect the rest of their lives. Your support matters. A gift of US$25 to the Kiwanis Children's Fund through The Kiwanis Possibility Project will positively impact 10 children.

Help yourself by volunteering

Volunteers packing food donation boxes
When you serve others, you also make a positive impact in your own life. Discover the benefits of giving back.

As a Kiwanis member, you know how your participation in service benefits kids and communities, from your own city or town to areas around the world. But did you know that your service also helps you? Study after study shows that people who volunteer also make a positive difference in their own lives. Here just a few of the benefits you get when you give back.
You make new friends and enhance your social network. Strong personal connections help you build a support system based on common interests, buffering you against stress.
Your mental health gets a boost. Volunteering contributes to higher levels of happiness, self-esteem, self-worth and life satisfaction.

Your physical health benefits too. The Mayo Clinic, a medical nonprofit, has stated that volunteers report better physical health and have lower mortality rates than those who don’t volunteer — even when controlling for variables such as age and gender.

You broaden your horizons. Service enhances your understanding of diverse cultures and communities.

You foster the development of future leaders. When your Kiwanis club sponsors one or more Service Leadership Program, those student volunteers are more likely to do better in school and become active members of society.

Kiwanis is a global, volunteer-based organization focused on improving the lives of children through community service.
Founded in 1915, it initially focused on business networking but shifted to service in 1919, with a primary focus on helping children and communities.
The name "Kiwanis" is derived from an American Indian expression meaning "we build" or "we trade".

What Kiwanis does

Community service: Members help with various projects, such as sheltering the homeless, feeding the hungry, mentoring, and caring for the sick.

Youth development: The organization develops youth as leaders through programs and encourages children to be curious, safe, and healthy.

Fundraising: Kiwanis clubs raise funds for pediatric research and other projects that benefit children.

International reach: Kiwanis is an international organization with clubs in nearly 80 countries and geographic locations.

Kiwanis clubs and members conduct service projects. They hold fundraisers. They donate to the Kiwanis Children’s Fund. They change children’s lives in their own communities and through international initiatives — helping young people develop mentally, physically and emotionally

Every year, Kiwanis members stage more than 1.3 million service projects and raise nearly US$390 million for children, families and communities around the world. Kiwanis club projects are based on the community’s needs — we build playgrounds, purchase medical equipment, stuff backpacks with school supplies, restock libraries and much more. The average Kiwanian makes an impact on the lives of 106 children.

The Kiwanis mission

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.

The Kiwanis vision
Kiwanis will be a positive influence in communities worldwide — so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive.

The Kiwanis motto
Serving the children of the world

The Kiwanis objects
1.To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life.
2.To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
3.To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business and professional standards.
4.To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.
5.To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service and to build better communities.
6.To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and goodwill.
