If you want to fix congestion, you have to provide options in addition to single passenger vehicles.
We often hear that the answer to congestion is more car lanes. Yet city after city has shown that adding lanes doesn't eliminate traffic—it simply attracts more driving until congestion returns.
The most effective way to move more people is to provide choices: safe bike networks, comfortable sidewalks and safe crossings, and reliable transit. When more people can walk, bike, roll, or ride transit, there are fewer cars on the road. That's how we reduce congestion, improve safety, and create communities that work for everyone.
The goal isn't to move more cars. It's moving more people!
