Our Story
The world is a magical, mysterious and wonderful place! Conversely, many communities have been hindered from achieving their full potential. For 35 years we have focused our lives on helping people and communities of limitied resources and great potential achieve their birthright. Imagine…a better world, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in 2008, was formed on the belief that Margaret Mead shared: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
Imagine…a better world envisions a world that is equitable, harmonious, and productive. For us,”…a better world” means people thriving in solidarity without want; in safe, clean and affordable places to live, work and play; surrounded by beautiful, vibrant, natural environments that provide for our needs. We work to help transform poverty, create opportunities, and build sustainable community.
HAITI
Water is life. People and communities cannot be transformed without access to clean water. Following the devastation the 2010 earthquake, cholera breakout and hurricanes, Imagine has responded in Canaan 3, seven communities of Plasaac and Jeremie, through our Water and Wellness Project. Thousands of families now have access to clean, affordable drinking water; safe from chronic diarrhea, cholera, and other water-borne diseases. Help us continue this effort with our agro-ecology project in Plasaac and to envision other creative opportunities that can help build sustainable community in Haiti and transform people’s lives!
