Sarasota D-FY (Drug Free Youth) is a new, popular movement in Sarasota, De Soto, Charlotte and Mantes Counties, for middle and high school students who are committed to being drug, alcohol and to***co free. D-FY members get recognized for making their own correct choices, and enjoy discounts at a growing number of their favorite local businesses with a membership card. Card holders will also be el
igible to attend special D-FY events, will be looked at more favorably by prospective employers, have opportunities for training, mentoring, internships, and have the opportunity to earn community service hours. Being a D-FY member means:
-Being a student leader
-Being an influincing role model for peers
-Being educated and informed about the adverse effects of drugs and other substances on young people
-Being passionate about staying away from drugs, alcohol and to***co
-Being able to say "NO" effectively to peer pressure
-Learning useful information about the harmful effects of prolonged drug use, and consequences of use
-Joining lots of new friends who share the same drug-free commitment
