July Perry was a member of Ocoee Lodge number 66 which was a prosperous Lodge. Many of Its members were leaders in the Ocoee business and civic community. July Perry and Moses Norman has served as Junior and Senior Wardens respectively. During the Ocoee Massacre On the morning of Nov. 3, 1920, the body of July Perry who tried to vote in Ocoee was found hanging from a light pole. During the massacre Ocoee Lodge 66 was burned to the ground.

The Brothers of the M.W.U.G.L of Florida P.H.A have endured countless acts of racism and violence. Three years after the Ocoee Massacre on Jan 1st 1923 Brother Sam Carter, Sylvester Carrier were killed and Aaron Carrier was severely beaten and taken to a city Jail in Gainesville Rosewood Lodge would suffer the same fate as most of the Structures in Rosewood it would also be burned to the ground. Although the newspapers would exhale this was a result of a white woman’s claims of being beaten by a black man it was more a result of the racial climate in Florida in the 1920s.
