Embarking on our 25th year of making music, Diversity: The Voices of Sarasota has faced the challenges and disappointments of the last few years revealing our inner strength and power that comes with joining together to fight the common enemy, COVID. Throughout this time, we at Diversity have continued to experience tremendous love and support from our family, friends and loyal followers. In December of 1997, the Gulf Coast Men's Chorus, now Diversity: The Voices of Sarasota, debuted as guests of the Tampa Bay Gay Men's Chorus at the Players Theatre in Sarasota. And so it began. In 2005, the first women joined as, Harmony the Voices of Sarasota and in 2008, the 2 merged to become Diversity: The Voices of Sarasota. Diversity has performed in Sarasota, Miami, Bradenton, Key West, Venice, Fort Meyers and Tampa. The chorus has also participated in the International GALA Festivals in San Jose, Montreal, Miami, and Denver. In 2010 Diversity performed at Carnegie Hall for "Sing For The Cure". Diversity: The Voice of Sarasota is a gay and gay friendly group of men and women who dedicate themselves to sharing their talents with the entire community. We are not just a group of singers, but a family. Since 2019, Diversity has been under the direction of Chris Romeo who has, through his youth, talent and enthusiasm energized our singers and plotted a course for success. Chris performs regularly with the St. Pete Opera and provides students with vocal training lessons. Diversity has open very casual auditions which include pitch matching and singing scales. Other non-singing opportunities that support our mission are also available. Come hear us! Come join us! Music does change lives.
