ASID FLORIDA WEST Please see the deregulation update below and please take action!!

Friday afternoon (4/25/25), Florida HB 991 was taken up by the House. The bill's sponsor - Rep. Mike Giallombardo (R-Cape Coral) - substituted SB 110, the Senate Rural Renaissance package, for his bill and added on the DBPR language that repeals licensing boards and mandated continuing education and modifies community redevelopment agency operations.

As expected, SB 110 was eventually approved by the House by a vote of 69 - 42 with 10 Republicans joining all the Democrats to vote against the bill. SB 110 "Rural Communities" by Sen. Corey Simon (R-Quincy) is now in returning Messages to the Senate. The Senate may take up the current SB 110 and pass it or amend it to strip-out the DBPR and community redevelopment agent language, or refuse to hear the bill.

We don't believe there is an appetite in the Senate to take the DBPR language, but we have to continue to contact the Senate to oppose the bill.
