Our charter, founded on Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences (MI), emphasizes more than EIGHT natural human gifts, and the belief that students learn through the process of discovery, embracing mistakes, and appreciating their own natural gifts. SSIS recognizes that not all children learn the same way, and we address this in our lessons, enrichment experiences, program offerings, and parent engagement opportunities.

⭐ An important note from Innovation Academy SRQ's Board President ⭐

Dear Innovation Academy SRQ Families, Supporters, Donors, and Community Partners,

Over the past several days, many of you have seen or received communications regarding Innovation Academy SRQ and may have questions about our school's future. We believe it is important that you hear directly from us.

First and foremost, Innovation Academy SRQ remains open and fully operational. Our students are learning, our teachers are teaching, and our commitment to providing a personalized, nurturing educational experience remains stronger than ever.

We understand that recent discussions and public conversations may have created uncertainty. While our school has faced challenges, we want you to know that our Board of Directors and leadership team are actively engaged in addressing those challenges and pursuing opportunities that will strengthen the future of Innovation Academy SRQ.

Our focus remains where it has always been: on our students.

Every day, our classrooms continue to be filled with engaged learners, caring educators, and the supportive relationships that make Innovation Academy SRQ such a special place. The culture we have built together as a school community continues to thrive because of the dedication of our families, staff, volunteers, and supporters.

In addition, we are actively exploring strategic partnerships and opportunities designed to support long-term sustainability and enhance educational opportunities for our students. While some of these conversations are still in progress, we are encouraged by the possibilities ahead and look forward to sharing more information as plans develop.

We are committed to communicating openly and transparently. As new information becomes available, we will continue providing updates through our regular communication channels so you remain informed and connected.

Most importantly, please know that our Panther Family is strong. Together, we have built a school community centered on innovation, belonging, and student success. That mission continues to guide every decision we make.

The heart of Innovation Academy has always been our students, families, and dedicated educators. That foundation remains strong, and we look forward to continuing our journey together under Ms. Hinds' leadership.

It’s time for another Meet the Teacher feature! This week, it’s Ms. Eleonora "Nora" Branson, our fourth and fifth grade teacher.

Ms. Branson was born in Azerbaijan, which was then part of the Soviet Union. She lived and worked in several countries, including Russia, Poland, Spain and the United States, and is fluent in English, Russian, and Spanish.

Over the course of her 30-year career in education, Ms. Branson has worked in a variety of roles, including as a translator and interpreter, realtor, English and Spanish teacher, and Reading and ESOL coach. She’s taught students of all ages, from elementary and middle school to high school and adult learners.

“Helping others learn and grow has always been my passion,” says Ms. Branson. In fact, even though she retired last year, she quickly realized that she couldn’t imagine spending all her time at home. “My greatest hope is to make a positive difference in my students’ lives and help them reach their full potential,” she says.
Ms. Branson’s favorite color is turquoise, her favorite food is sushi, and her favorite holiday is Christmas. The funniest excuse for missing homework she’s ever heard? “My mom spilled coffee on it and then threw it away.”

Thank you so much to the wonderful volunteers from the Greater Sarasota Chamber who came to Innovation Academy SRQ last week to help update our VPK playground and common areas!

The volunteers were here as part of the chamber's "Fall for Sarasota" event and included team members from the Baltimore Orioles, BayFirst, Caldwell Trust Company, JPL & Associates and LMCU.

"This work means so much more to our school than a refreshed campus," says our Head of School, Mrs. Fayth Jenkins. "Restoring the VPK playground creates a safer, more functional space for some of our youngest learners in our newest program. By painting and refreshing our common areas, they also helped create a school environment that feels cared for, welcoming and full of pride.

"For a small school, projects like these can be difficult to accomplish on our own," Mrs. Jenkins continues. "Having members of our community invest their time, resources and hard work reminds our students, staff and families that we are surrounded by people who believe in our school and want to see our children thrive. We are incredibly grateful for that partnership and support."
