🐢 Today is World Sea Turtle Day!

Sea turtles play a critical role in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems, from supporting coral reef health to serving as indicators of ocean health. Yet many species face ongoing threats from habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and entanglement in marine debris.

On Go Beyond’s Preserving Paradise program in the British Virgin Islands, students work alongside local conservation partners to assist with sea turtle tagging efforts. By helping researchers identify and track individual turtles, students contribute valuable data used to better understand population health, movement patterns, and long-term conservation needs.

Conservation starts with knowledge, and every tagged turtle helps tell a story that can inform future protection efforts.
