Free, public parking is available daily at Sarasota County parking lots in the Englewood area, which include Cedar Street Parking Lot, Green Street Parking Lot, and the Freedom Pavilion Parking Lot. Angled public parking is also available along W Dearborn Street as well as public parallel street parking along some of the smaller side streets surrounding the downtown W Dearborn Street area.
Please be aware of areas marked with “No Parking” signage.

Sarasota County Stormwater staff are working with experts to identify flooding and water quality hotspots in the Lemon Bay Watershed and to develop potential project concepts for improvement.

You are invited to attend a Neighborhood Workshop to learn about these priority areas and potential project concepts. Flood and water quality improvement projects protect quality of life and property values.

The online Neighborhood Workshop will be hosted June 23–24, 2026, at multiple times.

The County will be holding public information sessions on Florida Statute § 125.01055, otherwise known as the Live Local Act (LLA).

Under the LLA, Sarasota County must authorize multi-family and mixed-use residential as allowable uses in any area zoned for commercial, industrial, or mixed-use, and in portions of any flexibly zoned area such as planned unit development permitted for commercial, industrial or mixed-use, if at least 40% of the residential units in a multi-family development are rental units, that for a period of 30 years, are affordable as defined by Florida Statute § 420.0004.

During these public information sessions, County staff will be providing an overview of the LLA and any relevant updates on the state law.

The Sarasota County Commission invited Sarasota County Government Employee, U.S. Army Sergeant Kelley Everingham, to lead Tuesday's commission meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Everingham served 8.5 years in the U.S. Army with the rank of Sergeant. During her service she served as a Chaplain's Assistant, a role that provided protection to the chaplain during wartime, as Chaplains are prohibited from carrying weapons per the Geneva Convention. Throughout her military career, Sergeant Everingham earned numerous accolades, including four Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Marksman Badge.
