Week 2 of our 2026-27 Future Leaders Academy Summer Intensive, and we are still going strong!

We toured Manatee Technical College and learned about technical certifications/careers. Students began their college search process, reviewed their SAT/ACT/CLT strategy, started their CommonApp and personal statements, created and ran their own panels and learned about social capital.

Thank you to our partners at for hosting us in their amazing facilities, the fabulous presentations by our college coaches, Alyssa Bickler, and John Annis, and long-time investment of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation for helping make this program possible.

¡Ya estamos en la segunda semana de nuestro curso intensivo de verano de la Academia de Futuros Líderes 2026-27, y seguimos con mucha energía!

Visitamos y aprendimos sobre certificaciones técnicas y carreras profesionales. Los estudiantes comenzaron su proceso de búsqueda de universidades, revisaron su estrategia para el SAT, ACT y el CLT, empezaron a completar su CommonApp y sus cartas de presentación, crearon y dirigieron sus propios paneles de discusión y aprendieron sobre la importancia de reputaciones.

Last week we kicked off week 1 of our 2026-27 Future Leaders Academy Summer Intensive!

This week, students practiced their networking and interviewing skills, built their resumes, completed their aptitudes and interests assessments, learned about professional emails and listened to several community and college speakers. We also had some fun dinamicas to get to know each other.

Thank you to our speakers Hector Munoz, Ilka Rodriguez, Alyssa Bickler, Lou Franco, and the University of Pennsylvania for stopping by to speak with our students, and to our incredible community partner CareerSource Suncoast for hosting us in their state of the art facilities.

¡La semana pasada comenzó la primera semana de nuestro curso intensivo de verano de la Academia de Futuros Líderes 2026-27!

Esta semana, los estudiantes practicaron sus habilidades para establecer contactos y entrevistas, crearon sus currículos, completaron sus evaluaciones de aptitudes e intereses, aprendieron a redactar correos electrónicos profesionales y escucharon a varios ponentes de la comunidad y de universidades. También realizamos algunas dinámicas divertidas para conocernos mejor.

Welcoming the New Year!

UnidosNow had its Open House where we welcomed new and old students and parents to the 26-27 cohorts of FLA and FLAM! Our families got to meet us and ask questions, receive info and resources, and make any final preparations before the first workshop day.

This month, we have been chosen as one of the non-profits competing in Every Hit Is A Win! Every time the Tampa Bay Rays get a hit, Suncoast Credit Union donates $79 to whichever non-profit wins. We could score a home run in donations to contribute towards our cause, but we’re polling behind!
