Hearts & Heroes, our third annual Delaware event, was held on May 29 at the Ocean View VFW Post 7234 with a simple but powerful mission: uniting hearts and healing lives—one paw at a time.
A highlight of the evening was hearing from Alex, a Pennsylvania State Trooper and Purple Heart recipient, who shared the profound impact a service dog can have on those who have experienced trauma in the line of duty. His story was a moving reminder that healing often begins with companionship, trust, and unwavering support.
The event brought together veterans, first responders, supporters, and community members in a shared commitment to caring for our heroes. Through stories of resilience, hope, and service, Hearts & Heroes demonstrated the life-changing impact of service dogs and the power of a community united in gratitude and purpose. ❤️🐾
Representative Gray and his wife, Candice, were honored guests at the event and expressed their strong support for veterans, first responders, and the mission of Service Dogs Saving Lives. They spoke about the importance of community, compassion, and ensuring that those who have sacrificed in service to others have access to the resources they need to heal. Their remarks reinforced the powerful role service dogs play in restoring hope.
