LGBTQ+ youth deserve to celebrate and have fun in a safe space like every other student - so across the U.S., they're using our Changemakers grants to create those spaces for themselves:

🟣 CA: Homecoming will be reclaimed in an incredible LGBTQ+ youth event

🟣 KY: youth will put on three large, affirming community events: a Halloween Party, Pride Prom, and Lavender graduation

🟣 MT: hosted a Q***r Prom with the theme “Midnight on the Bayou" where nearly two dozen young people were able to have their hair and makeup done for free; they'll also host a year-end Snow Ball

🟣 NY: q***r Jewish youth hosted a Zootopia themed celebration during Purim to affirm ALL of their identities

🟣 OH: brought back the cancelled Other Prom at the Lincoln Theatre with a COSprom theme

🟣 SD: will host a Halloween dance where young people can wear the costume that makes them happiest

Have the BEST time y'all, you deserve it! See other amazing Changemakers projects happening across the country here: itgetsbetter.org/2026-changemakers-meet-the-lgbtq-youth-leaders-changing-their-communities

Schools should be places for education, growth, and discovery, NOT hotbeds for bullying and harassment. As anti-LGBTQ+ policies are increasingly enacted in schools across the United States, it’s more important than ever that we stand up to ALL of these bullies from the top down.

Say NO to book bans. Say NO to misgendering and deadnaming trans students. Say NO to bans on trans athletes. Say NO to the forced outing of LGBTQ+ students. Our children deserve better.

This Bullying Prevention Month, take action and fight for the rights of LGBTQ+ students with your vote. Visit pflag.org/pflagvotes to learn more.
