Financial skills are an important part of building a strong future, and our CNA students at Meridian West Central College got a chance to learn more about them! 💰

Suncoast Credit Union visited both our AM and PM CNA programs through FastTrack for a financial wellness session covering the things that matter beyond the classroom — saving and managing money, building credit, and managing and paying down debt.

We’re grateful to Suncoast Credit Union for helping our students build skills they can carry with them long after graduation. Because preparing for a career is about more than getting the certification — it’s about preparing for life, too!

We're excited to announce The Foundation’s support for Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce Foundation Inc through the BlackRock Future BuildersTM initiative, which is helping expand access to skilled trades careers across the United States. The initiative supports organizations that are strengthening pathways into high-demand careers and helping more people connect to economic opportunity.

We're proud to be part of this inaugural national BlackRock Future Builders cohort. This grant will allow us to expand access to skilled trades training and help more local employers invest in the development of their workforce. That means more individuals can build pathways to family-sustaining careers while our region strengthens the skilled talent pipeline businesses need to grow.

Sherona’s CareerEdge journey is a powerful example of what can happen when someone chooses to take a chance on themselves.

She started the program nervous and unsure of what was ahead. Today, she’s a graduate who has found confidence in her abilities, a passion for caring for others and the determination to keep pursuing her goals.

And that’s why the work we do matters. It’s about more than training for a career—it’s about helping people see what they’re capable of and giving them the support to keep moving forward.

Professional development is an important part of preparing for a successful career in healthcare. 🩺

The September 2026 CNA cohort at STC spent Friday with Dr. Lori Roth for a full day focused on skills they can take with them into the workplace. Students explored emotional intelligence, maintaining a positive mindset, managing negative emotions, and techniques for navigating challenging situations.

They also focused on career readiness, covering interview best practices and getting hands-on practice, along with resumes and cover letters.

A great day of learning, practicing and preparing for what’s next!

🚗 A big milestone for 10 future automotive professionals!

Congratulations to the 10 students who recently graduated from Suncoast Technical College’s Automotive Technician program! Their hard work and hands-on training have prepared them with the skills needed to take the next step in their careers.

We’re proud to share a new investment from Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation that will help expand three Chamber initiatives connecting people to opportunity: CareerEdge, InternConnect and ThinkBIG.

In 2025 alone, CareerEdge helped 447 workers earn 540 certifications, with Fast-Track graduates seeing an average wage increase of $7.37 per hour. Since 2021, InternConnect has matched, placed and fully funded 176 interns, giving local students hands-on experience with area employers.

Through ThinkBIG, entrepreneurs and small business owners will also have access to Chamber membership, connections and resources to support their businesses.

We’re grateful to Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation for investing in programs that support workers, students and entrepreneurs across our community.

Earlier this week, we checked in with students in the STC Auto Technician Program as they got hands-on with automotive electrical systems.

Students were learning how to use multimeters while building their understanding of the fundamentals of automotive electrical systems — skills that are an important part of working in today’s automotive industry.

We’re looking forward to following along as they continue developing their skills throughout the program!

A new class, a new beginning! 🩺

Last week, Meridian West Central College welcomed students for the first day of its Fall 2026 CNA program. Both the AM and PM classes are officially underway, beginning their training as they prepare for careers in healthcare.
