Good Morning
Reef Worlds mission to create hundreds of Parrot Head Reefs to facilitate affordable Artificial Reef Projects.
Yesterday , our organization forwarded an email document allowing Monroe County and The Key West Marine Sanctuary to create a Parrot Head Reef Project using the Parrot Head Reef Trademark owned by Reef World inc.
Similar documents are been sent to State and County Marine Conservation organization across the country allowing them to create a Parrot Head Reef in their jurisdiction.
On Monday we will forward a copy of the trademark and our organization documents to your offices.
This release allows you and your organizations to use the Parrot Head Reef ™️ on any number of projects.
Please notify any organization interested in creating an Parrot Head Reef in Monroe County it's upto your offices if the project meets the requirements.
Hopefully this effort resolves in past or future issues with the Parrot Head Reef Trademark

Dear Monroe County and NOAA Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Representatives:
My name is Capt. Nikki Swain, and I serve as a Volunteer Chief Financial Officer of Reef World Inc.
The mission of Reef World Inc. includes facilitating, supporting, and developing artificial reef projects for the benefit of marine habitat, coastal communities, and the environment.
Our volunteer staff has communicated with artificial reef coordinators in several states regarding opportunities to establish artificial reef sites associated with the Parrot Head Reef® name. Several coordinators have expressed interest in either naming an existing artificial reef site or establishing a new artificial reef project using the Parrot Head Reef name.
It is important to clarify that Reef World does not intend the Parrot Head Reef concept to be limited exclusively to artificial reef projects directly constructed, funded, or operated by Reef World.
Reef World's objective is to make the Parrot Head Reef name available, where appropriately authorized, to communities and qualified organizations seeking to create artificial reefs and promote marine conservation.
There is no licensing fee or royalty being requested by Reef World Inc. from Monroe County or the NOAA Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary for the authorization granted in this letter.**
Prior Authorization to Reef Ball Foundation
On October 1, 2023, Reef World provided written authorization concerning use of the Parrot Head Reef name by the Reef Ball Foundation. That authorization stated:
“The Parrot Head Reef name can be used by any member of the Reef Ball Foundation family to benefit the environment around the world.”
A copy of that October 1, 2023 correspondence may be provided or attached for reference.
Several months ago, Reef World was also contacted by the president of a local Parrot Head club concerning whether Reef World would object to the Reef Ball Foundation using the Parrot Head Reef trademark. We advised him of the prior written authorization provided to the Reef Ball Foundation.
Official Authorization to Monroe County and NOAA
Through this letter, Reef World Inc. expressly authorizes Monroe County, Florida, and the NOAA Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary to use the Parrot Head Reef® trademark, without charge, in connection with an approved artificial reef project or artificial reef site located in Monroe County, Florida.
This authorization includes use of the Parrot Head Reef® name for purposes reasonably associated with the authorized project, including:
* identification and naming of the artificial reef or reef site;
* governmental and public records concerning the reef;
* maps, charts, educational materials, and project descriptions;
* signage and plaques associated with the reef;
* environmental and marine-conservation education;
* websites, press releases, public announcements, and informational materials concerning the project; and
* promotion of the authorized artificial reef project and its environmental purposes.
This authorization is granted royalty-free and without a trademark licensing fee** from Reef World Inc.
Nothing in this authorization requires Monroe County or NOAA to approve, permit, construct, fund, maintain, endorse, or participate in any artificial reef project. All projects remain subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws, permitting requirements, agency approvals, environmental requirements, and governmental policies.
This authorization also does not authorize any person or organization to represent that NOAA, Monroe County, or any governmental agency endorses Reef World Inc., its products, services, fundraising activities, or commercial activities unless such endorsement has been separately and expressly authorized by the applicable governmental entity.
Confirmation and Formal Release
This letter constitutes Reef World's written approval and consent for the trademark use described above.
If Monroe County, NOAA, or the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary requires a more formal trademark license, consent, release, declaration, affidavit, or other authorization for its records, please forward the requested forms to Reef World Inc.
Alternatively, Reef World is prepared to execute a separate Trademark Authorization and Royalty-Free Release specifically identifying Monroe County, the NOAA Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, the authorized project, permitted uses, duration of authorization, and any reasonable trademark-quality or governmental requirements.
We look forward to working with Monroe County, NOAA, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, reef organizations, community partners, and other interested parties to support responsible artificial reef development and marine conservation in the Florida Keys.
