🎠Celebrating Young Playwrights and Global Connections!
What a wonderful event we enjoyed at the Young Playwrights Festival at Florida Studio Theatre. This year felt especially meaningful as we celebrated two talented winners from our Sister City of Dunfermline, Scotland. Watching their original plays come to life onstage, performed by FST’s professional actors, was truly inspiring. The award ceremony was heartfelt, and the girls were honored with the recognition they so beautifully earned.
We were also deeply honored by the presence of a special guest from Poland, who traveled to Sarasota to learn about the WRITE A PLAY program and explore how she might help promote this powerful educational initiative back home. Her visit was a reminder of how the arts continue to build bridges across cultures and continents.
For those unfamiliar, FST’s award‑winning WRITE A PLAY program is a year‑round arts‑in‑education initiative that gives students the tools, inspiration, and confidence to write their own original plays. These works are then submitted to the annual Young Playwrights Festival, where selected winners see their stories professionally produced.
Since 1991, WRITE A PLAY has reached over one million children, not only throughout Florida, but as far as Scotland and Israel. Sarasota Sister Cities is proud to support a program that empowers young voices and strengthens global friendships.
✨ Congratulations to our Dunfermline winners — and thank you to Florida Studio Theatre for creating such a meaningful platform for young storytellers.
