We can never say enough about what Paul and Meg have done, and continue to do to support and maintain the NLT. From maintaining the trails to helping develop our land use plan to maintaining the barn and surrounding areas they are tireless in their efforts to make the NLT a haven for all visitors. Yesterday I got to view something amazing. Over the past year or more Paul has undertaken the project of rebuilding the large part of the barn. Over the last 100 plus years the barn had started to sag, as all buildings do. When Paul started the project the barn walls were a full 12” out of plumb. This had caused the second floor joints to separate from the wall and a temporary support wall had to be built just keep the second floor from collapsing. Since he started the project Paul has rebuilt much of the framing on the north and west walls and using chains and cables and come-alongs he slowly pulled the building back to its original position. Incredibly, the second floor joists are now reattached to the walls, and the roof has been stabilized with permanent cable ties at the top plate. The photos are not great but I think they show some of the work Paul has done, and continues to do to preserve this building for the future. Thank you!
