🔥 WE DID IT! 🔥

A few weeks ago, we asked our community to help us raise $5,000.00 to build a covered fire pit for our Veteran Nature Retreats.

Today, we are incredibly excited to share some wonderful news:

We reached our goal! 🇺🇸

Thanks to the generosity of our anonymous matching donor and the many individuals, families, businesses, and supporters who contributed to this project, what started as an idea is quickly becoming a reality. Significant progress in it's construction has already been made, and we can't wait to see our veterans under it.

To everyone who donated, shared our fundraiser, encouraged us, and believed in this project: thank you!

You didn't just help us reach a fundraising goal.

You helped us build a place where hope can grow — one conversation at a time. ❤️

We look forward to sharing more photos as construction continues and, most importantly, showing you the finished space when it's ready to welcome our veterans.

From all of us at Homeward Bound Adirondacks, thank you for standing with our veterans. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 A Huge Thank You to American Legion Post 574! 🇺🇸
Members of American Legion Post 574 in Hudson Falls, NY traveled to Saranac Lake to present Homeward Bound Adirondack's Tracy Luton with a generous $2,600 donation toward the construction of our new Covered Fire Pit.

Thanks to our $5,000 Matching Challenge, made possible by an anonymous donor who is matching every dollar donated up to $5,000, their incredible $2,600 gift becomes $5,200 toward our $10,000 goal!

The Covered Fire Pit will provide a welcoming place for veterans to gather, connect, share stories, build friendships, and experience the healing power of community and the outdoors.

We are deeply grateful to the members of American Legion Post 574 for making the trip to Saranac Lake and for standing behind the veterans we serve.

Thank you for helping us build more than a fire pit—you’re helping us build a place for connection, camaraderie, and healing. ❤️🤍💙

🌲Today, another successful 3-day nature retreat goes in the books. 🌲

Over the course of the weekend, veterans hiked, paddled, fished, participated in a Nature and Forest Therapy session, gathered for fireside chats, and—perhaps most importantly—had the opportunity to connect through meaningful peer-to-peer support and camaraderie.

These retreats are about more than simply spending time outdoors. They provide veterans with a chance to step away from the stresses of everyday life, reconnect with nature, share experiences with others who understand, and build connections that can continue long after the weekend ends.

We are grateful to every veteran who joined us and brought their openness, humor, strength, and willingness to be part of the experience.

Another weekend of connection, reflection, and healing in the Adirondacks.

🥾 Sometimes the hardest part is simply showing up.
For many veterans, isolation can slowly become a way of life.
You stay home. You stop answering the phone. You turn down invitations. Before long, being alone can feel easier than trying something new or being around other people.

🌲At Homeward Bound Adirondacks, we understand that taking that first step can be difficult. Our 3-day nature retreats in the Adirondacks offer veterans an opportunity to get away from the everyday routine, spend time outdoors, share time with other veterans, and simply reconnect. There is no pressure to have all the answers. You don't have to explain everything you've been through.
You just have to be willing to give it a chance.

🇺🇸 One veteran who finally attended told us: “I can't believe I waited so long to attend a retreat. I have missed so much!” Maybe you've been thinking about coming for months. Maybe someone has encouraged you to attend and you've kept saying, “Maybe next time.”

🧭 Don't let isolation make the decision for you.

🌲 Come spend three days with other veterans in the Adirondacks. Get outside. Sit around the fire. Share a meal. Laugh. Talk—or don't talk. Just come and experience it for yourself. You might be surprised by how good it feels to be connected again.

📅 Give yourself three days. Give it a chance.

If you know a veteran who is isolating and you feel one of these retreats could be beneficial, please share this post with them. Sometimes a simple invitation can be the first step toward reconnecting.

🔥 WE’RE ALMOST HALF WAY! 🔥

🇺🇸 That’s right — we are about 40% of our $5,000 Match Challenge! ❤️

More than $1,950 has already been donated toward the 20' x 20' Covered Fire Pit for our Veteran Nature Retreats — and because of our generous anonymous donor, every dollar is being matched.

If you haven’t donated yet, please consider helping us keep this momentum going.

Every $10 becomes $20.
Every $25 becomes $50.
Every $100 becomes $200.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated, shared our post, and helped spread the word. ❤️

Together, we can create a place where veterans can gather around the fire, connect with one another, and have the conversations that can change lives — rain or shine.

🇺🇸 Help us reach the next milestone! ❤️

🔥$5000.00 Match Challenge Announced🔥
Homeward Bound Adirondacks is trying to raise $10,000 to build a covered fire pit for our Nature Retreats.

We have some exciting news! An anonymous donor has offered to match the first $5,000 we raise. That means every dollar you give will be doubled until we reach that goal.

You may be wondering, "Why is a covered fire pit so important?"

The answer is simple. Each evening during our Nature Retreats, our veterans gather around the campfire. They laugh, tell stories, and spend time with other veterans who understand what they've been through. Something special happens around that fire.

Many veterans come to us carrying years of pain, stress, and memories they have never talked about. At first, they are quiet. But as the evening goes on, and they sit with other veterans around the fire, they begin to open up.

There is something special about being surrounded by the peace and beauty of the Adirondacks. Sitting around a campfire with people who truly understand what you've been through creates a feeling of trust that is hard to find anywhere else. Veteran-to-veteran conversations are powerful because no one has to explain what military life was like—they simply understand each other.
For many of them, it's the first time they've talked about what they've been carrying inside. Those conversations can change lives.

The problem is that when it rains or the weather turns bad, we have to move everyone inside. We lose the peaceful setting, the campfire, and the feeling that makes those conversations happen so naturally. A covered fire pit will allow those important conversations to happen no matter what the weather is doing.

This isn't just about building a structure. It's about creating a place where veterans feel safe, where friendships are made, and where healing begins.

If you're able, please consider making a donation. No gift is too small. And remember, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar until we reach our first $5,000.

Together, we can build more than a fire pit.
We can build a place where hope grows, one conversation at a time.

Thank you for believing in our veterans and for supporting Homeward Bound Adirondacks. ❤️
