⚾ FAMILY GAME DAY with the Rangers! ⚾

Parents — grab your gloves! On Sunday, August 30th, you’ll get the chance to play ball right alongside your kids from the Rangers club. Don’t be intimidated, you can pick what position you play, we have extra gear. It’s all in fun.
Coaches Kyle and Scott will split everyone up, create the teams, and jump in the action themselves. First pitch is at 4:30 PM.

Thinking about joining the Rangers next season? Players and their parents are welcome to participate! Parents and any kids not currently on the Rangers club just need to complete a waiver. Email [email protected] to get signed up.

We know many of our players and families know Peter, who has umpired and taught clinics for SLYBSA, mentored and taught many kids in middle and high school (including mine), and who coached modified baseball for the school district earlier this year. Let’s all congratulate him on getting signed by his first professional baseball team, the Hagerstown (MD) Flying Boxcars of the Atlantic League! This is a great lesson to all our kids in what hard work and dedication can lead to. Peter pitched in his first game Saturday, going 2 1/3 solid innings with 4 strikeouts, 2 walks and giving up just one run. Congrats Peter and good luck! Go Flying Boxcars!

Your time, knowledge, and energy made a real difference for our young players this season. The kids (and parents) are grateful for everything you shared. Go Rangers! ⚾

Congratulations to Saranac Lake’s Smith and Stender team on a Cinderella run to the minors baseball championship! The #5 seed defeated #4 Edward Jones in the quarterfinals on Monday, took down the #1 seed Kentile on Wednesday, and then claimed the championship tonight with a 11-9 victory over #2 TBA LLC. As our season starts to wind down (except for our Rangers program which is still going strong), we'd like to extend a huge thank-you to our umpires!!!

We had a particularly strong, experienced and enthusiastic group of adults and kids who worked behind the plate or in the field, including two (Amy Kramer and Brandy Clark) who did it as volunteers! We are proud to say that we had two umpires covering every home game this season except for two games that were done solo.

I'd also like to give a shoutout to the entire Kramer family (Amy, Aaron, Lily and Noah) who all served as umpires for us this season. There were a couple days when all four of them were working at the same time!

Thank you to all these amazing people for their hard work, commitment, and flexibility. Playoff Update: Knights of Columbus won the minors softball championship on Monday, and the Tupper Lake Fire Department squad claimed the majors baseball crown on Tuesday. Congratulations to both teams!

The final league game of the season, the minors baseball championship, is set for Friday at 6 pm in Lake Placid where TBA LLC will host Smith and Stender. Good luck, all!

Playoff Update:

Avalon Tree Care took the majors softball championship Sunday, defeating High Peaks Landscaping 15-3.

The minors softball championship will take place tonight at 6 pm in Bloomingdale, where #1 Wayne Darrah Auto Body will host #2 Knights of Columbus.

The majors baseball championship is slated for Tuesday in Tupper Lake, pitting #1 TLFD against #3 Mtn Top Masonry.

Minors baseball playoffs begin tonight with the quarterfinals (see prior post) with semifinals on Wednesday and the championship on Friday.

We had an amazing three days hosting the 12u division of the The Battle in the Daks! Presented by the Adirondack Lightning! Thanks to Dale Hayes for organizing everything and inviting us to host ten amazing teams from near and far.

A huge thank you to all the people who donated food, drinks and other items for our concession stand, which was a great success. Thanks to those who helped staff it, namely Lynn Bennett (who pulled two shifts and helped with breakdown today), Kristin and Max Meissner, Kerry Harwood, Lisa Frechette and Ryan Knight (aka the hot dog chef). Big shout out to Tim Amo for helping with the fields and supervising things at Elks.
