The Pawtism Project brings dogs into Saraland Elementary classes to give special education students opportunities to interact with the dogs at their own pace, while helping the broader school community learn what specially trained dogs can do. https://bit.ly/4i4cEei

When someone shares our heart for Project Outreach, we should share it!

Although retired, Dr. Stan Stokely has continued to support Project Outreach endeavors, including speaking at the first-ever MERGE Conference in Tuscaloosa.

Imagine being a kid in elementary school and coming home so excited to show your parents that you were selected to be a part of a club that builds friendships with students with disabilities!

This should be the new norm!

Growing up, I can honestly say, I don't know where our students with disabilities were taught in my schools. Maybe I didnt pay attention, but I know it wasn't promoted.

Now think: thousands of kids are getting this opportunity across the state of Alabama. We are excited for Mary and all her friends in Project Outreach Lee Elementary. We hope you have the best year ever!

It's an important part of helping students in their role in Project Outreach. Students at Project Outreach Causey Middle School will learn to think, plan, lead, and serve their classmates, school, and community.

The first meeting!

It feels like the first day of school, with excitement and joy happening all over the room. As new and old Project Outreach chapters begin, we have to remember this isn't the norm.

Students who are choosing to stand up, stand in, and learn how to build relationships with classmates who are not like them. This is not the norm, but it can be. It should be!

To all the chapters having first meetings, we hope you have the best time ever! And for those who have already kicked off, keep soaring. Let the world "LOOK AGAIN" at what kindness, compassion, and inclusion can really look like!

As we grow, we realize we're onto something we never intended when we began. If we want to see the teaching shortage change, we need to take action to address it. We think Project Outreach may be one of those solutions.
