Riverfest is making waves this Saturday in Rosman, NC! Come visit us at the annual festival that celebrates the connection of these local communities, the French Broad River. With plenty of activities, education opportunities, live music, and food options, there is something for everyone! 🎟️🪕🗺️

Practice being waterfall wise at one (or more😉) of Gorges State Park’s 26 waterfalls! Remember to always stay aware of your surroundings and the conditions of both the trail and the waterfall. Please follow guidelines to ensure optimal fun and safety.😊

Mountain Laurels are making their appearance at Gorges!🌸
Don’t miss out on this year’s bloom, there is so much to see! Mountain Laurel (kalmia latifolia) are native to the eastern United States region and are known for their star shaped flowers🌟 These broadleaf evergreen shrubs typically experience peak season between late May to mid-June.

Hello, Springtime!

Take a peek at what is thriving at Gorges near Rainbow Falls!

🌸 Trillium (Trillium Catesbaei): Named so because of their physiological three-parted characteristics. There are three leaves, three petals, three sepals, and three stigmas. If you were to look inside a developed seed pod, it is also divided into three sections!
🌱 Buffalo Nut (Pyrularia Pubera): A hemi-parasite plant due to its ability to photosynthesize & extract water and nutrients from nearby plants, with its roots growing up to 40 feet long in search of hosts! While toxic to humans, it is said to have been eaten by historic woodland bison.
🌿 False Solomon's Seal (Maianthemum Racemosum): Clusters of flowers attract small bees, flies, and beetles for pollination. Birds and mice eat the berries and help disperse the seeds!
