Join us this Friday for a special edition of the ValEUs Lecture Series, Europe and the Mediterranean Challenge, hosted at the Università degli Studi di Firenze.
With the workshop just around the corner, this is an opportunity to jump into interdisciplinary discussions on the conceptual, artistic, political, transcultural, and (inter)disciplinary challenges the Mediterranean poses to Europe and the European Union.
Organized as a ValEUs research collaboration, the workshop brings together scholars from Rutgers University, Università di Firenze, SOAS, Istanbul Bilgi University, the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Università di Napoli L’Orientale, and other institutions.
The program will feature sessions on:
• postcolonial Europe and policy
• migration and humanitarianism
• climate and socio-political change
• cosmopolitanism and mobility
• Mediterranean cultural circulation
Speakers include Sadia Abbas, Iain Chambers, Belinda Davis, Khaled Mattawa, Ayhan Kaya, Laura Leonardi, Paolo Novak, Silvia Salvatici, Beatrice Falcucci, Marta Cariello, and others.
