Earlier this month, the girls at Girls Inc. Santa Barbara ran their own farmers' market.
They learned how to set up a stand, talk to customers, and move produce. They learned what it feels like to be the ones doing the giving.
Veggie Rescue was proud to donate the produce that made it happen — fresh food that fed the community and gave a group of young women something to be proud of.
This is what food rescue looks like when it grows in every direction.

Last Thursday, Veggie Rescue celebrated its Sweet 16, along with 5 million pounds rescued. We gathered at the Bernayt Vineyard and Cafe Farm for a tremendous evening of food, community, wine, and celebration, and we are looking forward to the next 16 years of Veggie Rescue.

We have to give tremendous thanks to all of those who participated, donated, and supported us with their time and effort. We couldn't have done it without you. We will be sharing more about the events soon but wanted to show you some of what it was like to have been there.

What an honor to stand alongside so many remarkable nonprofit leaders at last night’s Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara Celebration of Grants.

Many of the organizations in this photo are Veggie Rescue partners who receive fresh, rescued produce and food from us every week, helping nourish children, seniors, families, and unhoused neighbors across Santa Barbara County. Seeing this community gathered in one room is a powerful reminder of what collaboration makes possible.

We are deeply grateful to the Women’s Fund for their transformational $120,000 grant, which will fund a new 14-foot delivery truck dedicated to South County food rescues. We are equally grateful to another generous foundation’s gift that will put a second 14-foot truck on the road for North County deliveries.

Together, these investments will expand our reach across all of Santa Barbara County in ways we have been working toward for years.

Thank you to our board chair, David Coryat, and his wife, Callie, for being there to celebrate with us.

91 pounds of fresh citrus. Three partner organizations. Ten middle school students. One generous backyard.

That's today's harvest at the home of Belle Hahn, where students from Coastline Christian Academy joined us to rescue citrus headed for Sarah House, Mental Wellness Center, and Unity Shoppe.

Every piece of fruit picked today means fresh food on the table for someone in our community who needed it. That's the whole mission, right there in one afternoon.

450+ lbs of citrus and fresh veggies. Three incredible Montecito backyards. A crew that showed up and got it done. 🍊🥬

Thank you to Laura Wyatt for hosting our Montecito Harvest last Saturday and making sure this beautiful produce found its way to families who needed it most. Donations went to Casa de La Raza, Lompoc Catholic Charities, Isla Vista Youth Project, and the Lompoc Teen Center.
