From Santa Rosa Mayor Chris Rogers

What is this new striping on Ridgway Ave? It’s potentially going to be Sonoma County’s first class IV cycle track protected bike path. This design would create a protected bike path between parked cars and the sidewalk. Bicyclists wouldn’t have to worry about cars backing away from the parking spots into the road and into their path. No traffic lanes or parking spaces will be eliminated, though the traffic lanes would be slimmed (from 22 ft and 14 ft wide to 11 ft in both directions).

Staff is collecting input from the public on the proposal until August 21st.

This new design is intended to:

- Implement protected lanes, as is called out in the City’s Bicycle and Pedestrian master plan
- Shorten pedestrian crossing distances along the street
- Slow the road speed on Ridgway Ave in front of the high school

MESSAGE FROM THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA REGARDING ALTERNATE PARKING DURING THE SLURRY SEAL PROJECT
Supervising engineer Grant Bailey has arranged for Ridgeway neighbors to use Santa Rosa High School’s student parking lot while our streets are being repaired. The SRHS parking lot will be opened at 8 a.m. on Monday. Neighbors should have time to move their cars to the parking lot before crews set hard closures of affected streets.
“The facilities manager at Santa Rosa School District returned my call and left a voicemail stating they will open Santa Rosa High School’s parking lot Monday morning for the residents of the Ridgeway district to use during the slurry seal project in your neighborhood. Please note, the parking lot will be open until the evening of Thursday July 29, 2021 and I suggest all vehicles be removed from the parking lot before 4:00 pm on that day. Additionally, Ridgeway is scheduled to be slurried on Tuesday July 27, 2021 and access to the parking lot may be restricted due to work activities – please plan accordingly if you are going to use this lot."
