Our eye care clinic in action in Zaragoza, El Salvador is drawing bus loads of residents who receive an eye exam, prescriptions for close up distance, and take home new glasses...all for free. We are honored to partner with Gente Ayudando Gente (People Helping People), led by Lisselot Troconis. Gente Ayudando Gente was founded to extend a helping hand to those who need it most, with comprehensive programs in education, healthcare, housing, and employment. They not only improve lives, they also save lives through their early breast cancer detection.

It's done! Rotary District 5130 provided an $8,000 grant to improve the backyard at Verity, Sonoma County’s sexual assault and human trafficking prevention, intervention, and healing center.

Rotarians from the Santa Rosa Sunrise Club and the Sebastopol Sunrise Club volunteered their time to clean up the backyard, hauling five loads of trash to the dump. Shrubs and trees were trimmed, and w**d cloth was installed.

A total of 25 cubic yards of mulch was distributed throughout the backyard to improve the landscape.

Volunteers also installed a new pathway of paving stones across the backyard, along with additional paving stones in the patio area.

We live with lions! Our speaker this past week was Kate Remsen, Trail Camera Project Manager for the Living with Lions project, overseen by All Hands Ecology. Her role includes community outreach, engagement, and mountain lion research by placing and servicing trail cameras on private properties in the Sonoma and Napa Valleys. She gave a riveting presentation about our region’s apex predator.

Fran Ulmer, our guest speaker, serves on the board of the National Parks Conservation Association. Her talk on Alaska and America's public lands and waters was so timely given the challenges and threats to our vital resources.
