The Parks Foundation is proud to support the Sonoma County Regional Parks maintenance team, made possible by the generosity of our donors.

This spring, we helped the team transition from an old diesel mower to a brand-new, high-power electric model. This climate-friendly upgrade is powerful enough to last an entire workday while providing a significantly quieter environment for both parks staff and visitors.

We are grateful for your dedicated support, which allows us to continue making these essential enhancements to our local parks!

The Parks Foundation is grateful to the donors who support our "Tree Fund," which enables us to provide funding for Regional Parks staff to purchase young saplings for our parks.

Regional Parks recently had to remove a damaged mulberry tree from the lawn next to the Spring Lake swimming lagoon.

Parks maintenance staff planted three "October glory" maple trees -- popular, fast-growing shade trees known for their brilliant, late-season crimson red foliage and rounded, 40–50 foot canopy. They'll grow to provide welcome shade in this sweet picnic area!

If you’ve ever driven down Bodega Highway toward the coast, you’ve likely passed Watson School. But did you know this historic one-room schoolhouse is part of Sonoma County Regional Parks?

We are delighted to share that this local landmark just received some much-needed love, thanks to a Parks Foundation Staff Initiative Grant.

The Staff Initiative Grant program allows any employee of Sonoma County Regional Parks to apply for funding for a project that they believe will make operations more efficient or directly enhance the visitor experience in our beloved parks.

A recent grant application focused on upgrading the highly outdated electrical system at Watson School. By modernizing the wiring, we are ensuring this historic building benefits from reliable electricity and is protected from potential electrical hazards.

Projects like this are funded through the generosity of our donors and simply would not be possible without community support. Your support keeps Sonoma County's history alive and safe for generations to come.

We are perpetually grateful for the longtime support of the Russian River Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence! The organization has generously funded the Water Safety Patrol since 2015, and we are honored to be a grant recipient again in 2026.

The Water Safety Patrol is a lifesaving program that supplies Russian River beaches under Regional Parks’ jurisdiction with loaner life jackets. Regional Parks Lifeguards help fit swimmers with loaner life vests and educate visitors about how to recreate safely at the river.

Every summer, the loaner life jacket inventory is depleted due to loss and attrition. The Parks Foundation is proud to support the annual purchase of new life vests. Funding for this program depends upon loyal sponsors like the Russian River Sisters – and generous donors like you! Thank you!

It’s Wildfire Preparedness Week, and we’re on a mission to gear up our Sonoma County Regional Parks crews for the season ahead!

The Natural Resources team works year-round on fire resiliency. To keep our parks safe and beautiful, they need the right tools. We asked them what’s at the top of their "must-have" list to hit the ground running this year.

Here’s how your donation can make a direct impact:

Fire-Resistant Clothing: ten sets at $420 each ($4,200) – Essential safety gear for our hardworking crew.
Propane Backpacks and cylinders: four at $135 each ($540) – Used for igniting burn piles, especially in winter conditions.
Water Pump: $2,000 – High-powered equipment for rapid response.
Temporary Water Tank: $3,500 – Portable protection to keep prescribed burns contained.
Fire Hose: $3,500 – To replace worn out gear
Burn Boss Radios: two at $3,500 each ($7,000) – Critical for safe communication during burns.

Whether it’s a full set of safety gear or a contribution toward a new water pump, every dollar helps protect the landscapes we love.

Support the crew and donate here: https://www.sonomacountyparksfoundation.org/fire-preparedness.html

Join today and you’ll receive one of the pictured gifts, as well as an invitation to a VIP disc golf event coming up this May!

Park Pals also receive benefits throughout the year including donor park previews of new properties, complimentary tickets to Water Bark, and more.

Monthly donations are a critical source of support for the Parks Foundation, providing a steady revenue stream that facilitates resilience and enhances our planning. We are grateful to the Estate of Carol Kelley for providing this generous matching opportunity.
