rip Sandy.
Sandra “Sandy” Jonas
OBITUARY
Sandy Jonas passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on February 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband, Bruce, and some close family members. She was a proud second generation Italian who was born and raised in Santa Rosa.

Sandy attended Roseland Elementary School, Cook Jr. High, and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1966. Shortly after, she was hired by Wells Fargo Bank to be an executive secretary to Harry Nielson. She and Harry were in charge of setting up the Mastercard roll-out for the West Coast. In 1983, she and her husband, Bruce, co-founded Jonas Optical, and in 1995 Sandy followed her passion of music and began teaching piano lessons. She was an advanced teacher of piano theory and found great joy in preparing her students for their spring and winter recitals each year.

Sandy was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and she always looked forward to her annual trip to Mendocino with Bruce to attend the Mendocino Music Festival. Other places Sandy and Bruce enjoyed traveling to include Hawaii, San Diego, and Phoenix to visit family.

Sandy was a devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. She was a lover of all animals and she enjoyed gardening, swimming, and square dancing. She was an incredible Italian cook (and baker) who liked entertaining. Her lasagna was legendary and people who knew Sandy well looked forward to her homemade biscotti every December.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bruce Jonas, her brother-in-law, David (Gloria) Jonas, sister-in-law, Sharon Jonas, cousins, Linda Brodie, Claudia Willow, and Dennis Wolcott, and numerous members of her extended family.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Doris Ariasi, cousin, Angie Williams, niece, Dr. Diane Beach, brother-in-law, Reverend Herman Jonas, and great-nephew, Jackson Williams.

Please join us for a celebration of life for Sandy on Saturday, March 28th at 1:00 pm at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Santa Rosa. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Jonas Family Memorial Fund through St. Mark Lutheran Church (4325 Mayette Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95405).

Sad news from Kim Warburton's sister Kristi and Ed Harrington that Kim left us on June 29th. He fought the fight for a long time.
A celebration of Life is being discussed, and we will give out that info when it is planned.
Just this morning I was thinking how many have passed since our 50th reunion already, and we have a year to go if the 60th gets pulled together. Rest well Kim, you were a true Viking.

A Very Belated notice of a classmates passing.
I am sure we have more missing classmates. This is one that goes back to 2008. Ed Harrington noticed Henry's info was not in the photos. Well now we honor Henry Jones.
Herny was a Rincon Valley School Grad in 1960, then to Slater.
JONES, Henry S. January 8, 1948 - August 6, 2008 Henry was born in Los Angeles and moved to Santa Rosa with his family when he was eleven.
He bravely battled cancer for the last year of his life, and has now joined his father Hank, his mother Verdanell, and his brother Tom in heaven.
He is survived by brothers David Ogle of Bakersfield and Ken Jones of Elk Grove; and sisters Evanell Burchell of Redding and Cheryl Farrow of Fair Oaks.
Henry went through school in Santa Rosa and worked in construction and tax-preparation during his life. RIP Henry
