LGBTQI+ LEGACY Sonoma County

LGBTQI+ LEGACY Sonoma County We work to preserve, collect, and archive LGBTQIA+ materials. We also do presentations! We are organizing several collections from Sonoma County individuals.

It is vital to preserve and record the story of how Sonoma County became a desirable place where LGBTQI+ people lived, worked, and created a vibrant community. This legacy is of value to the LGBTQI+ community and to the greater community of Sonoma County. LGBTQI+ stories from non-metropolitian, suburban, and rural areas of the United States have been poorly documented, inaccessible, and lost. They

include papers, fliers, publications, photographs, videos, digital items, and relevant ephemera. It is important that these items are made available to researchers and accessible to the community-at-large. We also hope to assist others in deciding where their memorabilia can best be archived, such as a library, museum, or university. LGBTQI+ LEGACY Sonoma County seeks to sponsor events and presentations to the public. Our goal is to reveal the history of Sonoma County’s multilayered, multicultural and diverse experience, including often under-represented communities, our allies, and even our foes.
