🐉 Parents… Did You Know?

Did you know we have incredibly talented art students here at SLMS?

Thank you to our amazing families and community for making our two-night Souper Bowl event such a success! Families glazed ceramic bowls together on night one, then returned for a cozy soup potluck—sharing a meal in the bowls they created.

We also celebrated our 8th grade artists, whose original paintings and stickers were featured in a silent auction. Thanks to your support, we’re bringing visiting artist Amanda Lynn to campus this spring to work with our 8th graders on their Legacy Project—painting murals for SLMS!

Thank you for supporting student artists and art education at SLMS. 🎨💙🩶

🐉 Parents, did you know…?

Did you know our Spring Lake Middle School logo was designed by one of our very own parents!

Sharon O’Harren, an SLMS parent since 2021 and mom of a current 8th grader, is the creative force behind our Dragon monogram logo. Working closely with Principal Bates, Sharon began with initial designs that explored integrating the school’s main building with waves to represent neighboring Spring Lake—while proudly featuring our mascot, the Dragon.

The result is the logo you see today on our spirit wear in classic blue and gray, along with fresh variations that feel fun, modern, and totally middle-school approved. We’re so grateful for Sharon’s creativity, collaboration, and school spirit! 💙🩶

🐉 Parents, did you know…?

Did you know the dragon sculpture welcoming you at Spring Lake Middle School was created by local Sebastopol sculptor Patrick Amiot?

Patrick is known for his whimsical “junk art” sculptures, which can be spotted all throughout Sonoma County and beyond. Each piece is made from reclaimed materials and designed to spark joy—and maybe a little imagination, too!

We’re proud that Spring Lake Middle School is home to one of his fabulous works, generously funded by the SLMS PA. We hope this dragon brings a smile to your face at drop-off and pick-up every day. 💙🩶
