Thank you, Santa Rosa!

Our Police Officers Association would like to thank the community for their ongoing support. The Santa Rosa City Council evaluated budget cuts last night across several city departments. The Council amended the proposed budget which saved 4 of the 7 officer positions slated for removal. The 3 lost positions were funded by Measure O and the positions were lost due to Measure O baseline requirements. Our membership continues to push for the required staffing to continue our core services and to restore our eliminated specialty units.

She became a Police Officer in May 2008 and served in the DVSA unit as a Detective where she was dedicated to protecting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The past year has been anything but easy for Santa Rosa Police, and today we mourn the loss of Detective Marylou Armer who, one year ago today, passed away from Covid-19. She was the first peace officer in the state of California to perish from the virus. Her memory lives on through her outstanding work and legacy of helping victims of domestic violence seek justice. At SRPF we honor and remember the sacrifices made by our fallen and their families. Our hearts are with SRPD and the Armer family.

Santa Rosa Police Foundation knows that a safe community is one who actively partners with, supports, and genuinely values their local law enforcement for the sacrifices they make every day to keep crime out of our city. We back the badge, we support the blue (police) and gold (dispatch) line (and all first responders), and we will now and forever be thankful for the Santa Rosa Police Department.
We recognize that to many, this was just a banner that was criticized, then taken down and apologized for, but to sworn and civilian professionals from all departments locally and abroad, it was blatant and hurtful manipulation of a symbol of honor, integrity, and commitment to service. We hope that you will use your voice at the city council meeting tomorrow, and at the public safety subcommittee meeting on Wednesday to show your support of SRPD. Meeting details are below.
