SUPREME COURT ON HOMELESSNESS. Monday is the Supreme Court's 10 am live session for oral arguments in the Grants Pass v Johnson case. This case has the potential to criminalize any homeless person who rests, sleeps or camps on public land. (The audio will also be available on the Court's website later in the day.)

A appellate court "Boise" decision has been some protection for homeless people in Sonoma County. It said that communities are allowed to prohibit tents in public spaces but that it violates the Eighth Amendment’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment to give people criminal citations for sleeping outside when they had no place else to go.

If Grants Pass wins this case, it will overturn Boise.

Where will homeless people go?
