Jill Guidry, Registered Nurse at Providence Medical Group, is a true Health Care Hero. While caring for oncology patients throughout the pandemic, she has also continued to fundraise for 11 different causes over the past year.
An oncology nurse for 41 years, she is a champion and advocate for finding a cure to cancer and providing support and healing to all those in need. Her favorite brother-in-law was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma several years ago which prompted her to start racing for cancer causes. He passed away in 2009 after she completed her first half and full marathon in his honor. She lost her youngest brother two months ago to bladder cancer & heart disease.
She is always planning for the next event and involves her patients, often honoring them by wearing their photos on her shirt. One of her breast cancer patients taught her how to make sweet & salty pretzel snacks and she bakes them to fundraise. She has become known as the "Pretzel Lady" at the Relay for Life!
