💚💛 Important Update for Our School Community 💛💚

Our district is facing a significant budget deficit that could lead to state receivership (a state takeover) as early as spring 2026. The slideshow linked below explains how we got here, what receivership would mean for students and schools, and the proposed cuts that could directly impact classrooms, counseling, mental-health supports, and class sizes.
The School Board is expected to make final budget decisions at the February 11 meeting, and community input matters. We encourage families to review the information and join the conversation as these critical decisions are made.

💚💛 Actualización importante para nuestra comunidad escolar 💛💚

Nuestro distrito enfrenta un déficit presupuestario significativo que podría llevar a una intervención estatal (toma de control por el estado) tan pronto como en la primavera de 2026. Our annual YouthTruth Survey is open, and we need and value your input. Our school participates in this yearly survey through YouthTruth, a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts nationwide.

We use the feedback from this survey to inform and guide our schoolwide Action Plan each year and to strengthen our community for students, staff, and families.

📝 Please complete the survey before it closes at midnight on FRIDAY, JANUARY 30:

Students will complete their own survey at school over the next two weeks.

Please note:
• The survey must be completed in one sitting and takes approximately 15 minutes.
• We ask that one member of each household complete the survey.

• If you choose to leave comments, please do not include your name or any identifying information. Responses are anonymous and will be combined with those of other parents and guardians before being shared with school and district leadership.

Don't miss a great opportunity to hear from independent college consultants!

The Parent Association will once again be hosting the popular "College Talk" this year.

Date: Saturday, January 24 at 10 a.m.
Location: MCHS Library

Our panel of independent college consultants will spend an hour covering a range of college topics, including the college search, financial aid, and testing. This will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. This event is open to all 9th-12th grade students and their parents. Even if you have already helped your older student navigate this process, our panel helps students every year and is up to date on the most recent and potential coming changes taking place in this process. No RSVP necessary. We hope to see you there!
