RECA at the China Camp in San Rafael's San Pablo Bay, where Chinese immigrants found a home between 1855 and 1882. After the passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1882, the outlaw of export of shrimp in 1905, and prohibit of the use of the traditional bag nets favored by the Chinese in 1911, the population of China Camp Village declined until almost all residents were gone.
