The primary role of the SMPOA is to represent our individual and collective members with any issues related to pay, benefits and working conditions. We assure our members are being treated in accordance with their rights as outlined in Assembly Bill 301 – The Police Officers Procedural Bill of Rights. eers with various charitable organizations. Our contributions have been received by the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Red Cross of Santa Monica, Santa Monica Pony and Little League Baseball, Santa Monica Girls Fastpitch Softball, Westside Shelter and Hunger Coalition, Salvation Army, Santa Monica Nativity Scenes, Share the Holidays, Bunnie Joan Sachs Family Foundation, California Heritage Museum, Friends of Ballona Wetlands, Santa Monica YMCA, Santa Monica Police Activities League, Santa Monica High School Grad Night and the Santa Monica History Museum. The SMPOA also coordinates the department’s Survivor Fund, set up to aid the families of SMPD officers killed in the line of duty.
