🛩️ Buckle up and get ready for the Palms to Pines Air Race 2026! This year’s race will take place from August 14-15 and will span from Santa Monica, CA to Madras, OR. 🌴🌲

But this race is more than just a competition - it’s about honoring tradition while supporting a new generation of women pilots. We’re excited to see so many talented women take to the skies and push the boundaries of what’s possible. ✈️

🤍💘💜 Wear pink, purple, red, bring your picnic brunch potluck entree and Valentine’s decorations! Everyone is welcome, even your 49.5 💋

If you have an empty seat or are looking for a ride, please let us know so we can connect you with others! There are also some VC99s that are driving! We’ll be joining VC99s and SLO 99s, and any 49.5s for this fun gathering.

Logistically each pilot will likely meet at an LA airport around 9:30am, and return by about 3:30pm. Rates depend on each pilot situation.

After leaving Red Bluff, the six airplanes continued their journey toward Klamath Falls (KLMT), where they made a brief stop before gearing up for the final leg of the race. From there, they raced to the finish line at Madras Airport (S33), pushing themselves and their planes to the limit. 🏁

But the race wasn't the only highlight of the trip. At the terminus banquet, the racers came together for a well-deserved dinner and awards ceremony, held at the incredible Erickson Aircraft Collection. And what a collection it was - with iconic airplanes like the P51 Mustang, F6F Hellcat, and Messerschmitt, it was a fitting end to an unforgettable adventure. 🏆

Looking back on the Palms to Pines Air Race, we're grateful for the friendships we made, the experiences we had, and the aviation community that brought us all together. We can't wait to see what the future holds for this historic race, and we hope to see you there in August!

The Palms to Pines Air Race is back! 🛩️ After a long hiatus, the LA99s relaunched this historic race in 2022, and it was an experience for the ages. ✨

Six airplanes - a Beechcraft F33A Bonanza, a Grumman Tiger, two Cessna 182s, a Cessna 172, and a Mooney - raced from Santa Monica, CA to Madras, Oregon, covering hundreds of miles of beautiful terrain along the way. 🏞️

But before the racers took off, they got a weather briefing from the air traffic controllers at KSMO Tower, who gave them a rundown of the weather conditions they could expect. With that intel in hand, the racers revved up their engines and took to the skies. 🚀

After a brief pit stop at Salinas Airport (KSNS), the racers continued on toward Red Bluff (KRBL), where they spent the night before continuing on their journey the next day. Along the way, they encountered all sorts of challenges and surprises, but they persevered, thanks to their skill, teamwork, and the camaraderie that developed between them. 🤝

The Palms to Pines route, usually included a fly-by or landing in Merced or Modesto, California and a required overnight in Red Bluff of Redding, California. On the following day, planes had one last fly-by/landing in Klamath Falls, Oregon and finished before noon in central Oregon. The race ended in Independence for the first twelve years. In 1982 (the race’s unlucky 13th year), weather prevented the final leg and the race ended in Klamath Falls. The following year (1983), organizers planned a new end-point at Sunriver, Oregon, but fog delayed the finish. For subsequent years, the race ended in Bend, Oregon.

This year - like last year - the terminus is Madras, OR.

The annual Palms to Pines Air Race took place each summer at the end of July or beginning of August, with teams flying from Santa Monica to central Oregon (approximately 750 statute miles).

The race ran consecutively for 40 years until 2009, making it the longest-running all-female air race. Each year, anywhere from 30-60 planes participated with teams or solo pilots from all over the western United States.

The LA99s - with the help from our Sister Chapters - relaunched this iconic race in 2022 with much success. This year we are doing it again! Come and join us in the fun. Visit www.palmstopinesairrace.com to learn more and to register!
