Writing from Nepal, surrounded by the girls and the community we serve.
When I’m here, everything feels amplified—the love, the beauty, the resilience, and yes, the pain too. Being this close brings the work out of the abstract and straight into my heart.

We’ve just concluded our 2026 Founder’s Tour, and what stays with me most isn’t a single moment—but the feeling of Unatti as a living, breathing community. Woven into the ancient streets and temples of Bhaktapur. Held by relationships. Guided by local women. Rooted in trust.

Being here reminds me that this work isn’t outside of my life—it’s part of my life’s fabric.
The girls are not here to be fixed.
The community is not separate from us.
Their journeys, like ours, are unfolding in their own time.

The question shifts—from How do we do more?
to What is life asking of us right now?

At Unatti, our role isn’t to shape who these girls become.
It’s to remove the obstacles in their way—so their education, confidence, and leadership can unfold naturally.

I am deeply grateful for you—for walking this path with us, for believing not just in the mission, but in the wisdom of how real change happens.

With love and gratitude,
Stephanie Waisler-Rubin

We trekked into the local mountains with our Nepali daughters.
Not to conquer anything—
but to share something.

To walk side by side, breathing thin mountain air, laughing when the trail got steep, encouraging each other when it got hard. It was challenging. Our legs burned. Our lungs worked overtime. And every step felt worth it.

When we woke up and saw Mount Everest, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and the entire Himalayan range stretched out before us, it took our breath away in a whole new way.

Seeing them experience their own homeland with wonder
is one of those quiet miracles we will never forget.

Sharing moments like this—
wonder, effort, awe, laughter—
is one of the greatest gifts.

Nature has a way of reminding us who we are.
And walking through it together,
we become even more ourselves.

So much beauty all around.

Some families are born.
Some are built over time.

Coming back to Nepal isn’t travel.
It’s returning-

To my Nepali family.
To shared history.
To the long arc of love that is Unatti.

A Window Into Our Home was a special Zoom gathering hosted by the girls of Unatti, inviting you inside the place where they live, learn, grow, and dream—together. These girls come from generations of poverty, born into lives shaped by limitations they did not choose. At Unatti, those limits begin to fall away.

Through their own voices, stories, and shared moments, you’ll meet a family of sisters who study side by side, cook together, laugh loudly, support one another, and imagine futures once thought impossible. This is not a presentation—it’s an invitation. A chance to see daily life inside the Unatti home and to understand how education, care, and community can transform not just individual lives, but entire generations.

Thank you for stepping inside our home.

Too many girls in Nepal are pushed out of school by poverty, early marriage, and cultural pressures. 70% don’t make it past 10th grade—empty chairs marking futures cut short.

Unatti is changing that with a long-term promise: tuition, uniforms, books, tutoring, counseling, mentorship, health care, and food stipends for her and her family—not for a year, but for as long as it takes.

Today, 29 girls are on this path. With recurring support, we can grow to 60 by 2027. When you join the Community Sponsorship Giving Circle, you don’t just fill a seat—you give her the right to learn, graduate, and shape a new future.

I Am More Than My School Marks-

As a young girl, I spent many years in one shelter home with my sister before I came to Unatti. Life there was difficult. My teachers didn’t expect much from me. I was just the girl who never did well in school.

But then I came to Unatti where I was reunited with another blood sisters. Now the three of us live together at Unatti.

The aunties at Unatti helped me so much. They didn’t push me to be number one. They just helped me pass. And that, for me, already felt like a big success.

And Stephanie Ama—she always said to me, “You are so much more than your school marks.” In Nepal, no one says that. Everyone only cares about your marks. But not Ama.

She told me she was just like me. She didn’t get high marks in school either. She has dyslexia, so learning in school was very hard for her. But that didn’t stop her. She still started Unatti and changed so many lives—including mine.

At Unatti, I was always in the kitchen, it was my happy palace. And when my Unatti sisters said they loved the food I made, it made me feel so proud. For the first time, I felt like I was really good at something.

Now I am in culinary school—and I am top of my class. Me!
And yes I feel proud. School marks still matter in Nepal. But now I know I matter too.

Graduated Unatti girls share their stories;

But the truth is, I never thought I’d be here.
I never thought I’d live past the silence of my childhood.
I never thought I mattered enough to be seen, to be saved.

Read this whole story here-

Today, I’m a university student studying Business and building a superfood baking company with my Unatti sister, Sanisha.
