UU Santa Monica Peace & Justice Team

UU Santa Monica Peace & Justice Team Members and friends of UU Santa Monica work for peace, justice, sustainability and the dignity of all in our local community and the wider world. Join us!

The Peace & Justice Team of the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica is for everyone - people of all faiths or none - who wants to make a difference by working for justice and peace in *this* world, here in our local communities. Some of our projects include protesting unjust wars, supporting workers trying to resist racism and organize for fair pay, and engaging with local civi

c leaders on a variety of issues, including the rights of immigrants. We occasionally partner with other organizations such as the ACLU to sponsor documentary screenings and distinguished speakers on topics related to peace, justice and civil liberties. We often work with other local non-profits, congregational and secular groups to promote peace, justice and sustainability. We are guided by the 7 Principles of Unitarian Universalism:

The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all;

Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

In the wake of the killing of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by federal agents, join us for a solidarity vigil, where we will stand in prayerful, peaceful, and powerful protest against the violence these federal agencies have done. Please wear white.

Tomorrow!

❗️ALL OUT TOMORROW, 10/9 , at the Consulate General of Israel 📣

We are at a point of no return. Israel’s blockade on Gaza has inflicted famine conditions on Palestinians, with hundreds dying by starvation and thousands more on the brink of death. Jewish tradition teaches that whoever is able to protest the actions of their people, and does not, is responsible for those actions. As Jews, as Americans, as people of conscience, we all must choose to act right now. It’s time to speak out — no to starvation, no to invasion.

We invite people of all faiths to join us.

📣 Please join us for this month's edition of the Revolutionary Nonviolent Activism Workshop, rooted in the legacy of Rev. James Lawson—civil rights icon and pioneer of nonviolent resistance. This month's topic will be "Nonviolence in the Islamic Tradition," with Palestinian Muslim activist and community leader, Hadab Tarifi.

Whether you're standing with workers, protesting unjust policies, or applying nonviolent principles in everyday life, these sessions offer perspectives and practical tools for action.
