Many people are familiar with PTSD, which often develops after a single traumatic event—like an accident, natural disaster, or assault. But Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) is different.

C-PTSD develops from prolonged exposure to relational or developmental trauma, often occurring in childhood or over a long period of time. This type of trauma deeply impacts:

🔹 Self-concept – The way we see ourselves. C-PTSD might contribute to feelings of inadequacy, unworthiness, or failure.
🔹 Relationships – The way we relate with others. C-PTDS might contribute to difficulty with trust, intimacy, boundaries, and feeling connected to self and others.
🔹 Emotional Regulation – The capacity we hold for both challenging and pleasant feelings. C-PTSD may contribute to difficulty managing most emotions, including positive emotions.

Unlike traditional PTSD treatments that focuses on processing past events, NARM shifts the focus to how adaptive survival strategies from past chronic trauma continue to influence identity, emotions, and relationships today.

By working with these patterns that are often operating outside of awareness, NARM supports clients to reconnect with their authentic selves, moving beyond symptom management to deeper healing.

What if spirituality didn’t ask you to believe harder—but to listen more gently? In our latest review, SPT Magazine explores how Elaine N. Aron’s Spirituality Through a Highly Sensitive Lens offers a grounded, compassionate approach to meditation. Thoughtful, science-informed, and deeply humane, Aron offers a calm, trustworthy entry point. Drawing on decades of research, lived experience, and more than 50 years of Transcendental Meditation practice, Aron reframes spirituality not as belief or dogma, but as a deeply personal capacity for meaning, connection, and nervous-system ease. Written as a reflective “sanctuary” rather than a prescriptive guide, the book speaks to all readers, especially highly sensitive readers, who seek depth without overwhelm—and a meditation practice that genuinely fits their everyday lives.
