Very little time to act – Support our very own Santa Monica Whistle blower. We Need your signature (and share this post) today on this very important Santa Monica issue.
Have you ever asked your self why the homeless problem in Santa Monica never seems to get better?
Did you know that $1.6 million per year of your Santa Monica taxes goes to homeless services? And that a yearly total of $8.5 million is given away for Human Services Grants?
Did you know that even though the law has required an annual assessment of social services be prepared and presented to City Council by the Social Services Commission – they have failed to do so for decades.
Where has all this money gone, year after year? What good has it done? What services have worked, and which ones have been a waste of money? How can changes be made to better provide services? Sadly, we don’t know the answers to these questions, because nobody has done the assessments required by law. Yet the Santa Monica City Council has continued to dish out millions in cash with zero accountability.
Now that a Whistle blower in Santa Monica has brought it to the City Council’s attention that the Social Services Commission has failed to provide any of the yearly required assessments, instead of making the Commission comply with the law, the City Council is considering removing the assessment requirement from the law altogether.
This is just not right.
We need transparency and accountability; we all want a better Santa Monica, but without transparency and accountability our problems will continue to get worse while the amount of money we spend continues to grow.
Please support the Whistle blower and sign the Change.org petition now.
Tell City Council that We Santa Monicans demand that regular assessments be put in place to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse of public funding, and prevent harm to program participants.
