Volunteer at the Westside Repair Café on June 7 at Virginia Avenue Park and help give clothing, electronics, small appliances, and more a second life.

The Repair Café is still looking for additional volunteers to help with the event. They are accepting volunteers for repair stations at all skill levels and non-repair volunteers.

🎨🌿 Young artists took center stage at the Annenberg Community Beach House as the City of Santa Monica celebrated the winners of the 18th Annual Sustainable Santa Monica Student Poster Contest!

This year’s theme, “Reducing Emissions While Creating Resilient Communities,” inspired hundreds of local K-12 students to turn big environmental ideas into powerful works of art. From clean transportation and renewable energy to greener neighborhoods and climate resilience, the creativity on display was a vivid snapshot of the next generation’s vision for a more sustainable future. 🌎✨

The award ceremony honored the student winners, whose posters will now help inspire the broader community to think boldly about sustainability and climate action.

Located just blocks from the beach in downtown Santa Monica, The Bike Center has long been a hub for biking, commuting, and sustainable transportation in our community. From expert repairs and rentals to commuter memberships with secure bike parking, lockers and showers, they help locals and visitors alike choose bicycles — one of the cleanest, healthiest ways to get around our city — for transit, recreation and daily life.

What makes this certification extra meaningful is the specific, measurable sustainability actions The Bike Center has implemented throughout its operations:

🌱 Greener cleaning & care: Swapped out harsh Lysol disinfectant sprays for a non-toxic blend of water, white vinegar, tea tree and bergamot oils, and relies on Green Seal-certified and recycled-content products;
