Today, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, do something right. Stand up, protest, march, or go to your local parade an honor a man that fought tirelessly for civil rights! Support local Black owned businesses (today and everyday).

The LA MLK Day Parade (Kingdom Day Parade) route runs west on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd from Western Ave, turns south on Crenshaw Blvd, then east on Vernon Ave, concluding at Leimert Park Plaza, celebrating Dr. King's legacy with music, floats, and community, with attendees encouraged to use Metro K Line for easy access to stations like MLK Jr. Station or Leimert Park Station.

A post-parade festival with entertainment, food, and vendors takes place at Leimert Park.

Our programs are made possible by you, our generous donors. Every dollar makes it possible for us to continue the mission to educate and empower our communities to make changes that impact the way we treat and respect all living things.

Today is WORLD SPAY DAY! It's so important to spay/neuter your pets. LA is battling an overpopulation issue, with dogs and cats breeding about 15 and 45 times faster than humans, and the shelters are over capacity! You can save lives by taking care of this in your own home to reduce the number of animals potentially ending up homeless or tragically euthanized due to lack of space and resources. Spaying/neutering your pet also has health and behavior benefits.

is holding a Spay & Neuter Awareness Town Hall on TODAY, February 27 at the West Valley Animal Services Center at 20655 Plummer St., in Chatsworth, from 6-8pm. Go learn more about the importance of spaying /neutering and the resources available to Angelenos from LA Animal Services, including free spay/neuter certificates and discounted coupons.

Friday, 2/9, we did our second "Compassion for Animals" program of 2024, with 30 youths from High School, at the East Valley Animal Shelter! 🐶🐱🐰 🐢 These wonderful teens cleaned rabbit cages, read books to the dogs, made dog and cat toys, and learned valuable lessons on how to make a difference in their community!
