🌊 40+ VOLUNTEERS. 80+ BAGS OF TRASH. 15 TIRES. ONE AMAZING COMMUNITY! 💚

What an incredible turnout at Saturday’s river cleanup! 🙌

A HUGE thank you to the 40+ volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and helped remove more than 80 bags of trash, including 15 tires, from our river corridor! 💪♻️

Special thanks to our wonderful partners Trash Pandas, Capital High School, the City of Santa Fe, and Rowan Krump from Santa Fe County for making this event possible!

🐾 A special shoutout to Rowan for his engaging educational activity and presentation on why picking up dog p**p matters for keeping our waterways clean and healthy!

Every bag collected makes a difference, and every volunteer helps build a cleaner, healthier Santa Fe River Watershed. 💧

🌊 HIGH SANTA FE RIVER FLOWS EXPECTED THROUGH OCTOBER 15!

After weeks of extraordinary rainfall, the Santa Fe River is flowing strong! 💧

According to the City of Santa Fe, September's rainfall brought the equivalent of approximately FOUR MONTHS of City water use into the upper Santa Fe River system in a remarkably short period.

As of October 6, our reservoirs were at 64% capacity, more than three times the City's typical end-of-year storage target!

While this much-needed rainfall is welcome news for our water supply, elevated river flows also mean we need to stay alert.

⚠️ A few important reminders:

Use caution near river and arroyo crossings.

Never drive through moving water.

Follow posted warnings and road closures.

Stay aware of changing river conditions.

The City of Santa Fe will continue managing reservoir levels and river flows as we head into winter.

🌿 | Honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Indigenous stewardship, partnership, and leadership are essential to building a thriving and resilient Santa Fe River Watershed.

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Mori invites us to learn, unlearn, and reflect on how we relate to the land, water, and one another — while supporting Indigenous organizations, artists, community members, and scholars, and celebrating Indigenous resilience.

Indigenous peoples have co-evolved with and stewarded these landscapes for countless generations, continue to care for them today, and will carry that stewardship into the future.

At the Santa Fe Watershed Association, we are committed to centering Indigenous stewardship and leadership in our work and continuing to learn how we can do better.

💧 May we all remember and honor the sacredness of this land and water as we consider what stewardship means to each of us.

A huge congratulations to our friends and partners at the Forest Stewards Guild on 30 years of dedication to healthier forests, resilient landscapes, and stronger communities!

For three decades, the Guild has championed responsible forest management, wildfire resilience, and collaborative stewardship, making a lasting impact here in Santa Fe and beyond. 🌿

At the Santa Fe Watershed Association, we know that healthy forests are essential to healthy watersheds. We're grateful for our partnership with the Guild and for the incredible work they do to protect the landscapes and water resources we all depend on.

🌿 Steward Team Spotlight! 🌿

A huge thank you to our Steward Team, the Stephen Watts Kearny Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, for getting out and caring for our watershed!

On October 6, their team cleaned up Arroyo Barranca, removing four large contractor bags of trash from the arroyo. 💪🗑️

Every cleanup makes a difference. Thank you for helping keep Santa Fe’s arroyos cleaner, healthier, and more resilient! 💧🌱

🌿 Show Our Santa Fe River Trail Some Love! 🌱

All this wonderful rain has brought new life to our river trail, but invasive w**ds are flourishing too! 🌧️ Join our fellow river stewards for a morning of invasive w**d removal and help give our native plants room to thrive!

📅 Sunday, October 11

📍 Frenchy's Footbridge, Santa Fe River Trail
🚗 Parking available on Via Manzana

🌱 What to expect:
We'll be removing invasive w**ds like Kochia, Russian Thistle (tumblew**ds), goathead, and more! You'll also learn how to identify invasive species, manage them responsibly, and support the growth of native plants along our river.

🧤 What to bring:
Gloves, w**ding tools, water, a hat, and sturdy shoes. Long sleeves and pants are recommended. Some tools and gloves will be available to borrow!

💚 Whether you're a seasoned w**der or just curious to learn, everyone is welcome!

Come get your hands dirty, connect with fellow nature lovers, and help keep our Santa Fe River Trail healthy and beautiful!

We’re looking for a few wonderful Watershedders to help represent the Santa Fe Watershed Association at the upcoming Artist Procession at Reunity Resources! 🎨

Volunteers will help us staff the SFWA table, chat with community members, share information about our work, and help people learn how they can get involved in caring for the Santa Fe River and watershed.
