Creative Santa Fe In November 2021, Creative Santa Fe emerged from a year long dormancy with a new team and expanded mission.

Creative Santa Fe’s mission is to leverage Santa Fe’s unique sense of place, using collaboration and the power of the arts to reframe critical issues and drive positive change. Founded in 2005, the organization has a rich history of convening organizations and creatives to address issues that impact our community through vibrant public events, developing cross-sector partnerships, and building bridges of understanding. The organization adds to our services, providing comprehensive brand strategy and communication development to individuals and organizations who are committed to positive social change, amplifying the work of nonprofits, businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies.

SFCT Board Member Sarah Boisvert shares a powerful reminder about community. đź’š

Growing up in a middle-class immigrant family, Sarah saw firsthand how economic stability can give people the ability to look beyond their own immediate needs and show up for others.

Her parents and neighbors marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and helped advocate for landmark change - an experience that continues to shape how Sarah thinks about community today.

"How do you worry about other people when you can't feed your kids?"

A thoughtful reminder that caring for our communities and creating the conditions that allow people to care for one another is all connected.

Fresh off the PechaKucha stage! ✨
Sarah Boisvert of New Collar Network shared her excitement immediately after presenting at Creative Santa Fe’s PechaKucha.

For Sarah, the evening was about more than telling her own story. It was an opportunity to listen, connect, and celebrate the many different American stories being shared on one stage.

A wonderful night of voices, experiences, and perspectives coming together through the power of storytelling.

At PechaKucha Night VOL. 30: AMERICA, Carina Evangelista asked us to look beyond the familiar stories of America and consider what has been left out.

From the rarely heard verses of our national anthem to the Philippines, Indigenous resistance, war, and cultural history, Carina explored the narratives that shape our understanding of nationhood.

Her invitation: look more closely, question what has been redacted, and make room for the stories history has obscured.

What We Carry 🌿
Olivia Sloan took the stage to present “What We Carry,” a deeply personal reflection on the stories, traditions, and responsibilities passed from one generation to the next.

As a Diné and Tohono O’odham woman, Olivia shared how her understanding of history came not from textbooks, but through family, culture, and the people who raised her. At the heart of her story is a powerful lesson passed down by her ancestors: caring for one another is a natural way of being.

Her presentation reminds us that what we inherit is also what we have the opportunity and responsibility to carry forward.

Democracy on Wheels! 🚌✨
Fresh off the stage, Jennifer Hasty, supervisor of the Wonders on Wheels Mobile Museum, shared her experience speaking about the important work her program is doing to promote democracy across New Mexico.

Her talk, “Democracy on Wheels,” highlighted this year’s special exhibit and the ways Wonders on Wheels brings learning, history, and conversations about democracy directly to communities throughout our state.

Jennifer loved having the opportunity to share the program’s work—and we loved hearing her enthusiasm immediately after stepping off stage!

At PechaKucha Night VOL. 30: AMERICA, Amy Farah Weiss shared where her commitment to ending street homelessness began.

As a young woman visiting, and later living in San Francisco, she couldn’t ignore the human need she witnessed on the sidewalks. Her experiences working in shelters, psychiatric units, recovery programs, and supportive communities only deepened her determination to act.

Amy’s story reminds us that caring is only the beginning. What we choose to do with that care can change lives.

What happens when we look at a challenge from six different perspectives?

At PechaKucha Night Santa Fe: Green, Ron Dimon introduced Edward de Bono's *Six Thinking Hats*, a simple yet powerful framework for better decision-making, creativity, and collaboration. By encouraging us to step into different modes of thinking—from facts and emotions to possibilities and caution—the method helps teams move beyond debate and toward innovation.

A thoughtful reminder that the way we think can be just as important as what we think. 💡🟢

Max Neutra wrapped it up and put the evening into perspective at PechaKucha Night VOL. 30: AMERICA.

Behind every idea, every work of art, every story and every act of change are people, and those people are us.

We create, we share, we learn from those who came before us, and we turn ideas into action. We are resilient. We are capable. And our future is limited only by our imagination.

As Max asked us: What do you want to breathe life into? What kind of difference do you want to make?

Honoring the stories that connect generations. 🌿
Olivia Sloan, who is Navajo and Tohono O’odham, reflects on the deeply personal experience of sharing Native stories in a process she describes as both cathartic and complicated.

For Olivia, remembering and preserving the stories of her ancestors is a gift. By sharing them with others, she helps carry those stories forward while honoring her heritage, her ancestors, and the generations still to come.

We’re grateful to Olivia for sharing her story and reminding us of the powerful connections between people, place, history, and the land.

Moments after leaving the PechaKucha stage, Jonathan Hertzel shared what it felt like to tell his story.
“Exhilarating” and a little “horrifying” for someone who spends most of his time quietly working in his studio.

In just 20 slides, Jonathan brought together his ancestors, his art, and what we’re experiencing in America today. And perhaps the best part? Being part of it together.
