Smokin' Bachi Taiko, Inc Our mission is to promote the art and culture of Japanese drumming and drum making. We do this through classes, workshops and master classes.

The mission of Smokin Bachi Taiko (SBT) is to promote the art and culture of Japanese drumming and drum making. The sound and choreography encompassed in SBT performances are an infusion of the familiar Taiko tradition and a contemporary interpretation of ensemble performance. SBT’s unique handmade drums have a booming presence on the stage and emit a raw, deep and sometimes unnerving sound with e

ach measured strike. SBT offers classes, workshops, and coordinates rehearsal and equipment for two taiko groups: Taiko Sol and Santa Fe Wadaiko (our student group). Both groups perform regularly at festivals, restaurants, community centers, and art events in Santa Fe and regionally.
